I'm surprised. Clean record, intent debatable. RT @stevezipay: For his hit on Anton Volchenkov, one game suspension for Brandon Prust.

One game is fine...I thought the hit was a clear attempt by Prust to get him in the head with an elbow.

Never been suspended before. Prust did not have an elbowing penalty this season. No injury on the play. 1 playoff game. Priceless. Shanaban is a joke. Craig Janney wants his wife back.

I will say though, it's a shame they didn't review Parise's elbow on DZ. NBC showed it as a promo, didn't look clean in the slightest.

League hates us cause Torts calls them out all the time. I don't wanna hear any Devils excuses that they lost without their captain invisible anyway.

Prust received no penalty on the play and, according to Elias Sports Bureau, has been assessed only two elbowing penalties in his entire 301-game NHL career. The 28-year-old bruiser has also never had a hearing with the NHL's Department of Player Safety, a clean record he hopes will weigh in his favor.

Guys will rap sheets got off with no suspensions.

Prust is a head hunter.

Graves is a great guy. How did he get mixed up with garbage like DeBoer?

Fair suspension.

Anyone have the hit Zubrus placed on Stralman?

Yes, Shanny got tons of other rulings wrong. But to me, Prust made it clear he went after Volch with the elbow. In a perfect world, it's a one game suspension for him and everybody else gets suspended too.

I saw the Parise hit. It should be a game like Prust's.

This is what bothers me. People here are saying its fair? Do you remember Neil and Ovechkin's hits? They received nothing. Prust has just TWO elbowing penalties in his entire 301 game career. No record. The NHL and Shanny are jokes. Shanny needs to be fired. Zubrus and Parise should both be suspended then. But no, never. Especially with one being a star player. THERE IS NO JUSTICE in the nhl. If I wasn't a hockey fan and saw what was going on I'd laugh. I'd continue to laugh at the game. How could you get behind a sport that can't determine a set standard for how the game is enforced? It fluctuates based on what is becoming more and more evident as bias against the rangers, star players are an exception to the rules, and/or if the victim of the hit is not hurt then the suspension isn't as severe or there is none at all. It shouldn't matter if a player is hurt, you broke the law. You performed an act the NHL "claims" they so badly want out of the game. You know what...we should change our laws in society...say someone shoots or stabs another individual, as long as the victim survives the guilty should be let off the hook.

One game is what I expected, Prust definitely got his elbow up. Would like a little more consistency with suspensions and it still bothers me how some players like Ovechkin don't even get a hearing, but whatever.

Maybe missing a game will do Prust some good. He hasn't been playing well for most of the playoffs. We are lucky that he wasn't penalized for elbowing, it could have been a turning point like Hollweg's boarding penalty against the Pens in 2008.

IMO sticking the elbow out is automatic. Shanahan got this one right. Plus, the league likes to stick it to Torts.

Prust is all heart and no brain. He's been brutal all postseason, minus a couple of strong shifts killing clock in the two Game 7s.

The league hates Torts because he makes a mockery of what theyre trying to do. Its okay for the fans to complain and criticize ad nauseum. It's not OK for a coach to be front and center every ****in day, no matter how many times he says hes "deflecting".

Mark Cuban 2.0. I dont know what will be harder to stomach for a commissioner -- Stern handing Cuban the trophy or Bettman seeing Torts raise the Cup again.

I'm just happy Prust is out. I can at least see one game where a puck is cleared when its 3 inches from the line.

You shouldn't correct a bad call with more bad calls. That would just lead to a very vicious cycle. I hate the inconsistency but Prust getting a game here is the right call.

Difference between fair and inconsistent, and yet this ruling is both.

although dubi was practicing full contact today, most writers say he is not ready...idk if zuc's been practicing full contact or not with the ahl group and if he is ready....i scarily would not be too surprised to see bickel dressed for forward, but id rather see zucc

I think Prust deserved a game as I stated yesterday. He threw an elbow to the head. Parise did the same thing except he jumped to do it.

This is not a fair suspension at all. It's just not nearly as absurd as the Hagelin ruling.

You don't let other players get away with some of the **** they have and then make this suspension-worthy. It's pathetic.

The only reason nobody is freaking out is because we're up in the series, Dubinsky might be ready to play, and Prust has been crap all post-season. Doesn't change the fact that this is a joke of a suspension.

Sadly it's probably because MDZ didn't stay down.
