Why is it assumed Thomas is the one who is leaving? Tuukka would get us a better return and Thomas and Svedberg could be our tandem

Confirmed Signing with Link? you better change it to "Rumor"

The article doesn't confirm it in anyway, when asked Svedberg replies "No comment".

Because Thomas probably only has a couple years left in him and there's no guarantee Svedberg will be good enough to play in the NHL. If he isn't then you're left looking for a goalie (unless Khudobin turns into something).

Because who do you keep when you're managing a professional hockey team and want to remain competitive for more than a couple years, a 38 year old goalie who while still playing great is going to retire soon or a 25 year old goalie who is already one of the better goalies in the league and has shown flashes of brilliance and posted league leading numbers in the only season he played more than half the games? Not to mention the 25 year old is a much cheaper option.

I'm not sure who this kid is and I'm not sure how I feel about Thomas being traded. I almost feel indifferent. Part of me wants to trade Thomas to hand the reigns over to Rask and give Khudobin a much deserved back up role while actually getting something (albeit probably small). But the other part of me wants to see Thomas retire a Bruin. His entire NHL career was here and for such a nice story as he grew up, Boston was the only team that had the faith in him to give him a chance. It'll be really weird seeing Thomas in another jersey if he does get traded, that's for sure.

Maybe Eklund is right...

And why are people still upset with the whole white house thing? It was nothing from the beginning.

How many of these SEL signings have worked out in the past? I can't think of very many.

Hopefully Boston will retain the services of the one goaltender who backboned their first championship in 39 years. The politicos can't take that away from Thomas no matter how hard they try. The alternative is unfulfilled backup goalie hype.

Yeah, it would be so stupid to keep the 25 year old goalie instead of the 38 year old goalie.

tough loss for Brynäs. Losing their #1 goalie and their captain to the NHL.

Rather foolish of NJ to hang onto Martin Brodeur at 40 years. What could they be thinking?

Someone on the B's board said he's got quite the temper. Can anyone shed some light on this?

He was their captain? Or was it someone else?

Does it make it any worse to know that they're probably losing their starting goalie to the AHL?

Jakob Silfverberg was their captain. MVP of the SEL regular season and Playoff MVP.

He came over in time 2 play 2 playoff games for Ottawa. He will be playing in the NHL this year with the Sens.

How come this guy never got drafted or anything?

On a side note, how would he compare to other NHL goalies?

Tuky Rasky led league in save percentage three seasons ago. A defining career moment if there ever was one. Could help when HOF career dossier presented.

All right, folks. This is the Rumor Thread for Boston signing Niklas Svedberg. It's not the thread for discussing Tim Thomas' political views/being a *******, nor the thread for discussing Brad Marchand being a *******/having a large nose, nor Roberto Luongo's nose. So let's keep it on topic, or I start banning people from the thread.
