FINAL: Where does Nash end up?

Overvaluing, undervaluing, multiple prospects/top picks, one of each..... There have been several threads discussing potential destinations for the top flight power forward, but obvious mixed thoughts on how he gets to those potential teams. If we are being honest, not just being fans of our respective teams.. here are the facts:

-27 years old
-6'4" 220 lb, RW/LW
-contract: 1 year into a 8 year $62 mil deal
Stats:
Team League GP G A Pts PIM 19992000 Toronto Marlboros GTHL 34 61 54 115 34

200001 London Knights OHL 58 31 35 66 56

200102 London Knights OHL 54 32 40 72 88

200203 Columbus Blue Jackets NHL 74 17 22 39 78

200304 Columbus Blue Jackets NHL 80 41 16 57 87

200405 HC Davos NLA 44 26 20 46 83

200506 Columbus Blue Jackets NHL 54 31 23 54 51

200607 Columbus Blue Jackets NHL 75 27 30 57 73

200708 Columbus Blue Jackets NHL 80 38 31 69 95

200809 Columbus Blue Jackets NHL 78 40 39 79 52

200910 Columbus Blue Jackets NHL 76 33 34 67 58

201011 Columbus Blue Jackets NHL 75 32 34 66 34

201112 Columbus Blue Jackets NHL 82 30 29 59 40

NHL totals 674 289 258 547 568 OHL totals 112 63 75 138 144

My thoughts are Howson is doing everything that he needs/should be doing for the future of the CBJ franchise... However if he can get the return that he demands is a different question. He needs to be the heavy in these negotiations, because ultimately they control Nash for the next seven years and don't HAVE to trade him. People who undermine his talents are simply ignorant to his situation in Columbus. Nash playing alongside the talent in San Jose and Toronto is a scary thought.. and yes would require a heafty return, but one that could pay off mightily. At 27, Nash is in his prime, and statistics aside, his size and skill set are unique. Being reasonable, what's your best educated guess on where Nash ends up and for who?

i think he gets traded at the draft ... i feel he wants out and will waive his NMC to go just about anywhere else ...

i hope we can land a lottery pick plus a young winger

I think you're right. He's such a talented player, one who has grown with the city of Columbus and the young CBJ franchise, that it would be difficult to ship him off under another GM's terms. Howson should stay strong to his word.... he might just get it.

I honestly think the Sharks trade Pavelski for Nash, most likely in some kind of package from both sides (Niemi + Pavelski for Nash + Mason, as an example).

I don't like it, I think it will be the last idiotic thing Doug Wilson does before he's fired after next season. We don't need anymore high profile players. We need a better coaching staff and a system that works in the modern NHL. We need to take our AHL team more seriously and develop a culture of winning within our development system. We need faster players and a better prospect pool.

Rick Nash is the last thing we need, but it will probably happen anyway.

This is the type of deal that would never happen. Howson has made it clear, if Nash goes its for youth, high ceiling young talent, in the form of picks, prospects, or young nhlers.

In what world would the Jackets trade Nash and Mason for Pavelski and Niemi? Good lord, they'd be more likely to force Nash to play in a situation he wants nothing to do with than accept that awful package.

I think honestly, if we did that, the majority of our fan base would just throw their hands up in the air and give up. I for one would quit watching the team out of protest until DW was fired.

They are more than welcome to do so.... I wanted to be direct and get a "gun to head" realistic type offer, rather than the "Nash sucks, don't want him" or "Nash for the entire Toronto Marlies roster". Obviously, it won't be the "final" thread, that I'm sure.

It's funny because I was so right. It's like the Sharks fans on here just wait around for a chance to talk about how overrated Nash is and how they don't want him on the team.
