What reason could I possibly have to hate the Rangers? I'm a Blackhawks fan.

Making a glove save is basically an arm moving upwards at full speed. People call it "flashing the glove" but any goalie coach will tell you that after you've secured the shot in your glove, you must make sure the glove hand stay as far forward as possible so a player doesnt knock your glove over the goal line with his stick or body.

The only time I think a goalie showboats is when it's a soft wrister from far out, but even then, it would be technically unsound to not bring the glove hand towards the front of your body.

Seriously, how the **** do you "showboat" a 90-plus MPH slapshot????
This is exactly what I wanted to say but I couldn't be bothered to type out a long-winded explanation, thanks.

Thats true for most goalies, but there are a certain few in the league that likes to show boat their glove saves on routine shots, Luongo even admitted he does it because he is trying to replicate his idol Grant Fuhr.

Neck beard negates flow. He was definitely showboat-y. But nothing worse than I've seen from MAF.

MAF deserves it. When he makes a glove save, I'm about as surprised as he is.

So shooters can celebrate their goals til then end of days but goalies get crucified for celebrating a save? I'm for it.

Recently I'd go with Petr Mrazek's showboating in the WJCs

Do you know how many times I scream at the TV, "Get the **** up Roberto!" or some variation of that? His belly flops are panic inducing.

Holtby's mentioning tells me that a lot of HF has the memory span of a goldish

It's taken you since 2009 to figure that out?

The same applies to Thomas. I don't see him showboating as people suggest. He just has an unorthodox style.

EDIT: I'll nominate Rask as one of the biggest showboaters.

Making a windmill stacked pads save in that situation seems unnecessary.
I agree, if there is considerable risk of not making the save then he isn't showboating, and for that matter neither was Hasek when he made crazy saves.

Showboating-just to remind everybody-is when the save is pretty much routine, and you add some unnecessary flair to it. With broduer he makes the easy ones look easy and sometimes he makes the tough ones look like routine saves. And sometimes the tough ones look crazy hard to make, because they are.

Fluery rather easily.

Not that there is anything wrong with it though. It's fun to add a little flair here and there and it can motivate the team a bit.

I'd say Price and Lundqvist for the present, and Felix Potvin for the past.
