this team needs balls, and fast. I like what Rupp was trying to do, but a little too late.

That gets called properly, Rangers have at least a 3 minute power play. If they get one at the end of the second, and the refs decide to actually officiate the game properly in the third, we're talking a possible repeat of the Messier game.

The "lack of effort" that y'all whine about was a whole lot worse for the first 35 minutes of that one.

Until we figure out that Brodeur is going to play every puck behind the net everytime we will not sustain any pressure in the NJ zone. As i posted in the GDT its

-Dump the puck in
-Marty makes a play
-Devils clear the zone

Its happening all the time. That being said i still have full confidence that this team will get it done in 5 then 6.
Torts has shown a clear lack of ability to make adjustments a part from jumbling lines, so your suggestion falls on deaf ears.

The officiating was something to behold. Now, I am in no way blaming that because that was clearly not the reason we lost but my God. They were just racking up penalties on trivial ****.

First playoff game since the 6-1 debacle in 06 that I stopped watching before the end. Terrible performance. Lundqvist was awful too. This is a 1-1 game if not for that 1st and 3rd goal. The 1st you can argue about a screen, still a weak-ass shot from the point that went through his pads. The 3rd one was even worse than the 1st. Sickening that this game could be in overtime right now and isn't. Worst performance by Lundqvist by far. Worst performance by the team by far too.

Surprised Schoenfeld didn't teach G to hold his stick so that it lays on the ice... would have prevented that 2 on 1 goal.

Quote:
Horton was so strong, Schoenfeld says, that he could put his stick on the ice with just his thumb and two fingers to block passes. Most defensemen put the stick on the ice with their knuckles first, but that often leaves a little gap through which the puck can scoot. Horton taught Schoenfeld the proper way to get the stick flat on the ice, and as a result he broke up a lot more passes than he would have the old way.

Not really possible to win when you have 3 Dmen who can take a regular shift.

Three biggest frustrations:

1. How can this team repeatedly not show up in “killer instinct” games? Just 100% absent or at best mediocre up and down the lineup.

2. How the hell can the refs let that much interference go and then call ticky tack **** on Boyle and Stepan? Are they penalties, sure. But how does everything else get let go? No rhyme or reason.

3. Rupp’s hit was clean, absolute joke.

Personally I am a fan of what Rupp and Torts did - that is old time hockey. But the Rangers will probably continue to get fisted for it.

Better than the Caps goal horn.

You think Marty gave himself whiplash on that chest punch by Rupp?

Need to have better starts. We can't expect Hank to play like a God every single game. And with the offensive players we have he shouldn't have to.

I love how this team actually shot the puck and crashed the net in the last minute of the game but couldn't play like this from the start... pathetic.

Really not much to say other than we should just stop expecting this team to provide a 40-min effort, let alone a 60-min effort.

The good news is that there is no way they can play worse than they did tonight. And Henrik rarely has back to back average performances.

Gaborik and Richards need to show up. More Gaborik. Zero points in four games.

It seems like the Rangers just need to escape the 1st period without giving up a goal. Look at all the playoff losses -- many were because they gave up an early goal.

Rupp might not have done the right thing as a player of the New York Rangers but he did was i want to do every time i see Brodeur. I can't hate him for it. Plus it was hilarious.

I think he did the right thing. Sends a message, tries to get a little life into his team in a game that was out of hand. It's not like he did anything dirty, he just gave him a shove.

Oh.

My.

****ing.

God.

This.

Why the hell don't we do that all damn game? Absolutely disgusting that the best offensive pressure came after there was 0 chance of a comeback and the game was a mess.

It's pathetic that I can't choose which game of this series the Rangers played like a bigger pile of dog ****. This game and game 2 are neck and neck at the finish line.

I wonder if this team knows that it's actually within the rules to have a 2-game lead.

No really, guys. It's true.

Pathetic effort tonight. I don't know what their problem is. Do their heads get big after they take a 1-game lead in the series? Did they think that the effort they put out in Game 3 was going to work again? Where's the leadership on this team? Callahan's best contribution was getting Kovalchuk off the ice.

Very poor effort.

What was Rupp thinking when he pushed Brodeur?

Well, since game 5 is an odd-numbered game...

The Rangers were completely out worked. They can't expect Lundqvist to be superhuman every game. They better get together and decide if they really want to win this series.
