last nights loss was worst case scenario, I would be for anything. Cally, Krieds, stepan should be together. Maybe Dubi bring in

Andrew Gross ‏@AGrossRecord
Mats Zuccarello on the ice for Rangers practice. So is Brandon Dubinsky. Zuccarello spent past few days skating with AHL guys.

I think Zuccarello is ready to play. He's been skating for few weeks now.

Also, Bickel and Emminger are both in D jerseys.....wonder if DZ is going to his grandma's funeral.

I'm concerned that we're caught in an uncomfortable position. If our lines do need to be scrambled (they do), can we afford to experiment with different combos while being two games away from elimination? Also; provided Dubi and Zucca really are healthy, who gets scratched? Is it worth it? Do we know if they can be any more effective than, say, Hags, Mitch, Fedo, Artie, Boyle? Well...if Boyle is indeed concussed then there's one answer.

Then again, being tied going into Game 5 of the ECF, I'm terribly paranoid about everything.

I really think he could be. If he plays like he has in the past, he could. He is one of the few Rangers that can create offensive chances on his own. He will skate into the zone with puck. Who else will do that?

Dude. This is Tortorella. Lines are scrambled 5 mins into the game. If they come out with some actual effort, the lines should be fine.

Line scrambling at this point isn't that big a deal. All these players have played with each other at some point.

I think it's very needed. Tortorella does this a million times throughout the season, pretty odd that he hasn't during this series.

As far as fitting Zucarello and Dubinsky. Especially Zuccarello. Probably comes down to Tortorella understanding that Zuccarello might make a mistake or two.
Considering he isn't big, not that great a fit for what this system is and hasn't played in while.

Rupp would probably be the scratch.

Those top two lines are my ideal as well. I think I'd have Duby centering the 3rd line though and definitely have Feds in. Not sure who to scratch though.

Pretty damn solid. Like the thought of how Stepan's passing would help Gabby.

swap cally and zucc. let cally do the checking line thing. he's not doing anything else right. might as well work his dubinsky chemistry.

Bickle - Out
Boyle - Out (The dude is hurting, I think he has an injury)
Rupp - Out (I know he played well, but the bonehead move needs to be punished)

Dubi - In
Zucc - In
Prust - Back In
Torts keeps saying they are not tired. But if you look at ice time the last few games, with a few exceptions, Torts seems to think some guys might be tired. (Not including the benchings of Gaborik, Del Zotto and Anisimov)

that 3rd line is awful.who exactly finishes on that line?if you play Zuc,you want him to play with people who can finish, not on a 3rd line checking role, which is what hes not.

He has/had a wrist injury. He could always skate.

/thread

spreads talent. zucc is a playmaker. i think he makes more sense with other playmakers/readers. he's got a decent shot and can finish. he's not afraid to play the dirty zones. while callahan would technically be demoted, he could always be double-shifted in zucc's place.

kreider/stepan have huge synergy. stepan/gaborik had good chemistry as well. kreider makes more space than hagelin. he's bigger threat offensively. stepan also adds strong defense to a somewhat scary defensive line.

cally, dubi, and anisimov have always had chemistry. really strong line defensively. good energy. strong checking.

boyle and prust have great chemistry. strong forecheck/defense. rupp has played well lately and he was our best skater tonight.

scratches: mitchell is a fine 4th liner. has not hurt us and that's the most important thing... but push comes to shove i'd rather have rupp or zucc who are strong in specific areas over mitchell--who doesn't excel anywhere. fedotenko is a great defensive guy and strong on the fore-check, but he's been pretty non-existent lately. if rupp slips off then bench him for feds.

zuc was a changed man when he came in last time. the injury may have hurt his development, but if he comes in the way he left he can easily earn a permanent spot on this roster.

i actually like this balancing a lot as well--swapping mitchell for dubi and shifting dubi up and boyle down
A couple of things I noticed here in your post... first off, who told you that playing Center requires less skating? As far as I know, Center is probably the most skating-filled position on a line. You are required to chase down pucks, provide defensive help in your own zone, etc. Playing Center is definitely more physically demanding than playing a wing.

Secondly, I would love to bring Zucc back on the ice, but isn't the guy injured? Has there been any news on that? Have we heard otherwise?

Before I put forth my line got to say that:

1. Unfortunately both centers - Stepan and Boyle - have been underwhelming lately. 2. So's Hagelin on the 1st line while Mitchell has been better on the 4th I can't put him above any of my top 9 players.
3. Anisimov is DEFINITELY a better center than LW and it's time to put him back there, especially due to 1. above.

So with that:

Kreider--Richards--Gaborik
Dubinsky--Anisimov--Callahan
Hagelin--Stepan--Fedotenko
Mitchell--Boyle--Prust

+1 for putting Hagelin on another line, maybe 2nd or third.
