Kane, but any team would be obviously ecstatic to have either.

I'm really surprised by these results. I guess if you look at just points, then yeah. But there's a lot more to Parise's game than points.

I'd trade Kane for Parise straight up

I don't want to trade Kane but with Parise sitting out there, I have to admit it is enticing. You could trade Kane for a stud D-man or second line center and probably get something else of value back as well.

Think of it this way:

Kane for Myers, Parise

Kane for Miller, Roy, Parise

We lose both of those Kane deals, but combined with a Parise signing, the team becomes ridiculously better.

Any scenario you come up with improves the Hawks exponentially. With Dallas, I'd want Benn and Lehtonen.

Too bad in that situation you need not 2 to tango, but three.

That's the same thinking I was using when floating a trade Keith idea out there. Suter replaces Keith, and the return from Keith makes the team ridiculously better.

Your plan would be far better (Parise > Suter IMO), but there's no reason to think we'd have a shot at Parise. Where there is reason to think Suter could be signed.

Parise doesn't want to play for Chicago.

Suter is a much more realistic option, as in > 1% chance. Not sure many players want to play for this team anymore, despite what the polls say. Dysfunction is what is thought about this organization right now.

yeah i don't think there's much of a chance of parise becoming a hawk, but i have a hard time believing he would refuse to play for chicago

There probably isn't a quote. The thing is - he's probably right, though. Parise has been linked to wanting to play in LA. He is from Minnesota and he plays for New Jersey who are 2 games from there SCF. There's 3 teams that are likely to be 50x higher on his list than the Hawks.

bolded all I need to know.

Just because he thinks Parise doesn't want to sign in Chicago doesn't mean he actually, in reality, wouldn't sign with Chicago.

I hope he does. I've made it clear I would want him before Suter. If Bowman finds a way to add Parise and get even an average goaltender, the Hawks have the best team in hockey on paper.

They have an "average goaltender", I thought that was the problem?

If the Hawks have an average goaltender, then maybe they should put him on the roster and play him. Because Crawford and Emery hold up the bottom of the goaltender statistic charts.

I know people like to make excuses for them...it's the defense, deflected shots, blah, blah, blah. All goalies face tough shots. All goalies face deflected shots all night long.

After watching guys like Lundqvist, Quick, Smith and Brodeur doing their stuff these playoffs, you see how these goals that 'aren't Crawford's fault' can be stopped and usually are stopped.

An average goaltender can't hold up an awful dcorps.

If the D corps is so awful, Bowman will obviously make some major changes to it, right?
