High end prospects like Hall, Nuge, Skinner, Duchene, Landeskog, etc all were able to hit 50+ points as 18 year olds (Hall would have if not injured). Granlund will be two years older and has faced tougher competition the last few years than they had at that point in their careers.
There is no reason we should be putting the brakes on the kid. Expectations SHOULD be high. He SHOULD meet them.
Trying to imagine how his name will be announced PBP and I can't erase Terhaar from my brain.
I've heard him say Michael Granlund while talking about prospect, which is amazing that even being fired before FBJ played a single game didn't stop him from ****ing up and mispronouncing a Wild player's name.

I just remember last year and the kind of point production I thought I would see and was very disappointed. I don't want to get my hopes up too high just to have a let down like usual.
But I will say on my NHL 12 GM mode Granlund did score 54 points his rookie season after playing in the AHL for two years. Also he was on a line with Stammer..
Scoring 51 points (in 40+ games?) when missing the entire last month is damn impressive. You just can't plan for injury.
People are posting funny things in this thread: Boom.

His Point Per Game Average was the best in the league, had he played all the 60 games, he would have ended up with 26 goals and 67 points. That's five points more than Ryan Lasch had, who won the scoring title.
Personally I don't see a Heater/Koivu/Granlund line being all that great.... Heater missed the net so many damn times, and Koivu was never really a finisher. If possible, I think Granlund would do much better with a guy like Lats on his line. He goes to the net, and very rarely misses on scoring chances
Great news, I wasn't ever really worried about it, but like everyone else, I'm excited for next year. I'm with everyone else that we should have high expectations for this guy, he should be able to put up a lot of points.
I think he starts off on wing with Koivu for a bit then eventually transitions over to center as we have a ton of centers coming in.

Would you really want to invest that kind of money for guy who has never proven he can stay healthy?
I'm not so sure.
I'd be willing to bet that Granlund will start the season on the 1st line with Koivu and Heatley. How long he stays there will depend on how well they mesh.
Barring winning the Parise sweepstakes, I think it's possible we see the season start with these two lines:
Heater isn't a great sniper, he's a garbage goal guy. That's why I think he'd be great with FBJ. Granlund should in theory buy some room and time for Heatley to get around the net and hit him with passes.
It's when Heatley has to do things by himself that he becomes useless. With that stupid scrape the ceiling slapper that he does every single time he gets the puck with space.
Seriously, does he just watch highlights from Gretzky in the 80's and think that's still applicable today?
I'm too excited! Can't wait NHL season start already One thing is sure. I'm going to watch many wild games live next season. Don't even consider FBJ going to AHL! He already played 3 seasons with men with PPG status. It would be stupid to put him in the AHL.. If he isn't capable playing in the first 2 lines (and i'm sure he is) then just move him 3rd but AHL no way
