that is hilarious

edit, martin is very under rated as a player, he doesn't just lead the league in hits, he has good instincts and will develop into a 40 point 3rd line player, which is absolutely amazing for someone that has lead the league in hits over the last 2 seasons, he also is an enforcer when he needs to be and is an intimidating presance on the ice

Martin was a 5th round pick. His best offensive output was 7 goals. He was minus 17 this year. He is a good hitter and agitator who will drop the gloves, but to say he will score 40 points? Your out to lunch.

Peckhams plus mins this year was a respectable 0. He was a 3rd round pick who also hits everything and drops the gloves.

Value is there bud.

ehh not really, martin is probably the 4th hardest player for a team to acquire from the islanders behind JT, hamonic and okposo

and the 5th round pick doesn't mean anything he just played his second season in the nhl, this season he played most of it with reasoner and pandolfo, next season he should be on the isles 3rd line and be getting power play time, this player is skilled, awesome at protecting the puck awesome in the corners and almost impossible to move from the front of the net, and he is a great leader in the isles locker room

Draft position means nothing if both players are already in the NHL. Edler is a 3rd round pick, would we trade him for someone like Higgins, or Malhotra, who were both 1st round picks? Would Detroit want to trade Zetterberg (a 7th round pick?) for Edler? Once they're established, draft position isn't any indication of player value, especially comparing later picks.

He isn't an offensive force, and 40 points might be lofty, but he is a solid third liner, on a cheap contract, and holds more value to the Islanders then on the trade market. Peckham, while being a good plus/minus player, doesn't contribute anything Martin doesn't, and only has the position he plays as an advantage IMHO.

A late pick, assuming it doesn't turn into either a Peckham or a Martin, isn't enough incentive for Martin to be moved for Peckham. If you can guarentee that late pick will be another Martin though...

Oy vey. Just what we need - the next Ken Baumgartner. Pass.

Cheers,

Isles fans(and management, I'm assuming) love Martin. Considering how soft this team is I really don't see any reason for the Isles to trade Martin. Only way I see him even being considered for a trade is if he's a part of a package for a #1D or something like that.

Isles have no need or desire to move him. He fills a huge need. Chances are Martin will be an Islander for a very long time.

BTW, I really don't see 40-points as being out of reach for Martin. He isn't your typical goon. He has hands and is a decent skater, however he was mainly relegated to 4th line duties all year. If he ever moves up in the lineup I would say 40-points is a decent estimate.

Martin isn't moving. People need to get that through their heads, especially Oilers and Canadiens fans.

EDIT: And OP, your logic sucks.

It's always funny when someone makes a proposal for a player, then when said player's fans come in to say what it would take for that player to be traded the OP then sh*ts on the same player they originally created a proposal for. Like in some way it'll convince us that Martin sucks and we really should trade him for a package that will make us worse now and in the future.

How about Martin for a deal for Weber+. Or a Leopold for Martin+? Love to add him to our bottom 6.

No thanks, I would rather have Martin than Peckham.

Nah.

I'd rather see Snow package the isles 2nd+ Anders Lee for a top 4 defenseman .

Not much interest in moving Martin.
