Rethink the deal; perhaps Del Zotto, Thomas, Anisimov and a pick for Weber? Food for thought.
This is closer to an actual deal.
Nashville adds a conditional pick or 2 which only kicks in if Weber does not re-sign.

He could probably use the picks to bring in a better return the the offers in this thread.

It's doubtful Weber would be a rental (there isn't a year left on his current contract. It's RFA rights only). If he signs it would be long term.

As to the unverified mention he wants to return to BC, he played junior there but that was in 2005. If he was that homesick he could have asked for a trade in those years.
$6,183,925 to $7,729,907 - This year's 1st, 2nd and 3rd, and next years 1st.
Above that is 4 1sts.

Rather then offer 7.7 million +, I'd offer those picks and a prospect or roster player in a position of need instead, and sign him cheaper. If Poile doesn't match, that is...and a 0.2+ raise a season isn't unheard of, even at that salary. And if it is one of the teams Weber would want to play with. And that team can afford the costs.

This is the same tactic that Gillis used with Bernier and Buffalo, offering the picks and something extra in a trade, and explaining that we'd rather give up another asset and get Bernier through trade then risk a resign. A much bigger asset then Steve Bernier, but if there are signs Weber will leave as a UFA next year, Poile could get more via trade then the picks, and honestly, if there is uncertainty as to Weber's intentions.
