Yea I still can't get over how the Phoenix players reacted.
I know it's an emotional game and all, but conduct yourself a little better will ya?
The refs EASILY missed as many calls against us as they did against them. In the end it's a wash, and we beat them outright in four games.
They really come across as crybabies. Early in the game the Yotes were getting all the calls and nothing called against them. Maybe they need to go back and look at that. I do agree that the refs have been very weak this postseason, but to complain and cry this much? the refs didnt cost the Yotes the series, they cost themselves the series.
Also did anyone spot Richards in the handshake line, when Brown and Hanzal started mixing it up, richie pushing Brown and telling him "Just go, just go."

Right. If anything it was 50-50 bad both ways. And I mean, that's totally not acceptable given that this is the WCF. The officiating should be so much better.
But to insinuate that the refs were "Playing for the Kings." and that Phoenix was "Always coming up on the short end of it."
It's just silly, and it DOES make them come across as babies.

Love it. Keep our captain out of trouble.
Yeah I caught that too. Team has all bought in. They're all working and playing for each other.
The thing I remember from last year, both the Canucks and the Bruins...they took nights off. They just weren't there some night. Not to discredit them at all, because they were great teams, but for our team to go 14 games now without really taking a night off is extremely impressive. It's a magical run...sure hope they have 4 wins left in the tank. I know I believe in them.
Was pulling for the Coyotes in the WCF but I'm pulling for you guys now. Tough situation for a Flyers fan. Devils, Rangers, or former captain holding the Cup next month. I'm really just rooting for you guys so Simon Gagne and Ron Hextall can get their names on the cup...haha.

I'm hoping that Richards and Carter lift the Cup so all the bitter Phily fans can become even more bitter.
I don't get the resentment from Flyer fans about Richards/Carter. They were pushed out of Philly and it isn't like they said or did anything wrong there. Just a bunch of angry fans there. And believe me, I get it. The Kings have plenty of bitter fans but most fans aren't bitter when a player is traded away.

I.E. Jack Johnson, Lubo Visnovsky, Teddy Purcell, Brian Boyle, Tony Granato..
Closest thing I can think of is, in terms of fans hating players who were traded, are Rob Blake, and that's because he bent the team over twice by not waiving his NTC, and then by walking the next summer...and Ryan Smyth, and that's because he made a big shpeel about going back to BC because he and his family basically hated Los Angeles.
I can understand despising a player. It made me sick to my stomach when Rob Blake won the Stanley Cup, and it was a kick in the balls when he was brought back in 2006. And I wish nothing but bad luck to Ryan Smyth in his hockey career and hope he never sniffs a championship. But to me the situation with those two and Carter and Richards in Philly are just not comparable. Both these guys signed long term, committed to the Flyers and then were traded away, they didn't ask out. They didn't take off a C over money, they didn't use their children as an excuse for their greed. They wanted to be Flyers for the rest of their careers.
If anyone has a valid gripe it's Columbus fans towards Carter, he did not act very professional during that whole ordeal. Although I think for a rebuilding team JJ and a 1st are better than Carter going forward, so that is why I think they don't really care.

Yup, both teams truly benefited from that deal. Columbus got a guy that will be a dedicated leader for their team and the Kings got an offensive threat that balanced out their lineup in a big way.
PSP come on I know you are out there and enjoying this. Come on in the water is GREAT!! Bottom line is we all know you love the Kings, you were just a cynic after all those years.

Honestly, I think in the whole deal. Columbus came out better then anyone.
Yea I know we got Carter, but from an organizational standpoint, I think amongst all the deals CBJ came out the best.
Voracek was a lazy player when he was there, very lazy. In the end they essentially swapped Voracek and a 3rd, for Jack Johnson.
Not a bad trade at all. They still have a first round pick, and they got a young defenseman to build their blue line around for many years.
They did also give up the pick turned into Couturier. But that was more bad luck than anything else, no one thought that kid would fall to them in the draft.
So they traded Voracek and Couturier for Johnson and whoever the 1st in 2013 turns out to be...
I like Couturier, but I think Jack will be a Top 10-15 d-man next season, so it's not bad at all. Certainly better than a sulking Jeff Carter for the next decade for the BJ's.

Top 10-15 because he will play a lot of minutes on a bad team and score some PP points? Or that there are only 10 defensemen better than Jack Johnson in the NHL?

I know you don't like Jack, and I probably like him more than most so we are certainly going to disagree.
He has all the tools to be a Top 10-15 d-man in the NHL, and it's more than just points, he has shown he can play solid defensively with the role he played in the Olympics.
I'm not disputing that he didn't fit well in the Kings system, but that doesn't mean he isn't an excellent d-man.
And as for the cheap points argument, the same thing was said of Kopitar. I'm confident when CBus turns things around and becomes a contending team at the end of their rebuild, Jack will be a big part of it.

Can someone show me a clip of this and where it is in the clip? I've watch the handshake thing a few times and I've seen Doan's BS move, but not what Hanzal did.

I think the Kings took off game four against Vancouver, at least the last two periods anyways. And I think the first period last night was arguably their worst period of the playoffs, especially the first 10 minutes. But overall yeah, I agree, LA has been very consistent and has shown up to play.

What about Kurrilino too? He must be sick watching Stoll having a great playoffs.

Basically Voracek, Couterier and a 3rd for Johnson and whoever they get with that 1st we owe them. Assuming they defer to next year (which is almost a guarntee now) and assuming we play a bit better next season (which should be expected since the whole team is in their prime or younger and is locked in for next year) then you'd have to assume that pick will be around the 20th overall spot, or lower possibly. Not a great trade IMO.
(on the officiating…) “They know we don’t have an owner. They know we don’t have anyone to back us up. In the end, I don’t know if it’s an easy way, to not make calls and not show up. I know they wear the same color jerseys as them, the refs as the Kings, but they didn’t have to play for them.’’
Man, talk about bush league comments right there...

It's really sad you continue to champion these cheap shots at people. Do you really think Kurri was "sick" when Stoll scored the OT goal in Vancouver? We already know you think anyone who has been critical of the team (myself, Ziggy, Zad etc) don't deserve to be enjoying this, we know that much. Guess you feel the need to pick on him now too.
Stoll SUCKED the entire season while collecting a pretty large paycheck, any criticism directed his way this season was completely justified. He was terrible offensively, terrible defensively, took awful penalties all season and for most of the season looked like he didn't want to be here because of his demotion. He has certainly picked up his play in the playoffs, but he stunk this year and has been pretty bad for most his tenure as a King (granted, he was woefully miscast as a 2nd line center for three seasons).
The same can be said of Penner and for large stretches of the year Richards and Doughty. Thankfully Quick played at an MVP level to enable these guys to even have a chance to redeem themselves in the playoffs.

I hope old man Smyth is enjoying the sight of seeing the team he requested to be traded from is four wins away from the Cup. And what a crazy ride for Colin Fraser who wasn't even sure where he stood when the season started. Thank you Ryan Smyth and Edmonton for giving LA a legitimate fourth line center who is a hell of a lot more valuable to this team than an old and slow forward who can barely move up and down the ice.

Wherever they are, I hope they're enjoying it. They've been lifelong Kings fans who should at the very least enjoy this ride, despite their opinions and disagreements with Kings management.

Smyth doesn't care. His asking for a trade after being told he was going to have a lesser role the year before his contract was to end just showed he was interested in one thing and one thing only, the all mighty dollar. He didn't want a chance to compete for a championship. He wanted to go back to EDM where he figured the owners would overpay him based on nostalgia. And hey, more power to him, it's his career he has that right. Just not the kind of guy you want in a lockerroom. Using his family as an excuse for it and then lying to the Kings fans is what was absolutely disgusting and unprofessional.
But like you said, it was the best thing that ever happened to the Kings. Without that trade the Kings are not in the finals right now, I am 100% sure of that. Not only did it free up the cap space to make the moves at the deadline, we were able to get a useful player for him. Something Smyth never was for the Kings outside of the first two months of the year.
I really hope this organization is done with players like Blake and Smyth. It was really hard to cheer for guys like that.
