sry bro, but the reality is we overachieved this post season with a piss poor offense. we came dragging into the playoffs after a brutal March schedule playing .500 hockey.

They have been draggin all playoffs long. You don't lose a game after coming back from a 3 goal deficit. all it leads to is a turning point in losing the series. You win games like this, you don't lose them.

they pulled back after tying the game. that's chickenSh#it hockey!
they deserved to lose, and Highly doubt they win on Friday.

Our great goalie picked the biggest game of the year to suck.
after only playing 60g this season.

I'm trying to stay optimistic... I can only imagine what HFBoards would have been like in 1994 when the Rangers played an arguably worse Game 5. Sure, it's heartbreaking that they came back only to lose on a goal by Ryan Carter (it would be like Mario Mendoza hitting a walkoff homer in the ALCS/NLCS).

Fact is, Lundqvist played probably his worst game as Ranger tonight. But his heroics in Games 1 and 3 would never have even set up a Game 5 as the Rangers were outplayed in my opinion. Tonight we saw what they could do when they play desperate, and they rested on their laurels once they tied it. I thank Henrik for even getting the Rangers within two wins of the Finals.

Understandable but this game is over now, next game is a whole different game. We need to put this one behind us and look at the positives, forget the negatives.

Win Game 6 and it's one game for it all. One game at a time. This was a crushing loss though. IDK how you come back from this.

Agree with all of this, as disappointing as it is to face.

The coming back is the hard part ... very very hard. Almost impossible.

Have to accept the fact that the series is most probably over.
I don't think the fact that it's the Devils has any bearing on anything. The Rangers were the top seed in the East, they came back from 3-2 already this playoffs, and they've won two Game 7's. They didn't look any better against Ottawa than they do now against New Jersey. I understand Jersey is a higher seed, but most people thought the series was "most probably over" against Ottawa too.

It's going 7.

this team can definetly pull this series out. The devils have caught some breaks the last two games. my only fear is that we are tired. I mean after going through to game 7 series it has had an effect on us. Hank i feel will come back strong and if we play like we played from the 2nd period on we will force a game 7

For everyone saying it'll be tough to come back from this, yeah it will. HOWEVER, Washington came back from two overtime losses against us, one 3OT loss, and the Joel Ward penalty game. Teams can do it, and dare I say the Rangers have more heart and grit than the Caps do?

Couple of bad bounces on Lundqvist and a couple of bounces not going for us...It is what it is. Still a bad game for Lundqvist and this team responded being down 3.

We will win on Friday night.

I agree with you. Once they got that 3rd goal, it was like they just dialed back the intensity and the Devils took control of the flow of the game again. The question is, are the Rangers capable of playing that 'desperate' style for anything remotely close to 60 minutes?

you can't pull back dont you see? this team should have won 5-3 not the other way around. they can't score. they can't put away an opponent.

the negatives of this current ranger team are weighing in too heavily against them in this series.

No point in hanging our heads over this game, let's move on and worry about winning game 6. Game 5 is totally different from Game 6 so let's not count the team out yet eh? Everytime they get doubted they come through, sure winning game 6 AND 7 sound impossible now, but it's 2 games and you take it one at a time, win game 6 THEN game 7, two game winning streak is all we need to get to the cup finals and i'm cheering till the end.

I'd say the easiest thing to do is to desperately cling to blind optimism in face of a fairly obvious reality.

Not worried, Rangers decided to show up at the end of the first period and they had a lot left in the tank. If the Devils didn't get that early lead the Rangers would have won this. Hank will not play this bad again on Friday, and the team got a wake up call tonight.

I expect back to back wins, LGR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Fan is a derivative of fanatic. Get with it, bro.

But in all seriousness, it's not clinging to blind optimism. The Rangers have won two games 7s, and came back from down 3-2 already this playoff. They can do it again, and I don't think it's unreasonable for fans to think that, nor does it approach "blind optimism." You don't look reasonable or measured by telling other fans that the Rangers are screwed and that they are silly for thinking otherwise.

True, but I would argue that the Devils are a clear notch above either of those teams, making the task of winning 2 in a row much tougher.
