This loss reminds me of the Capitals loss in game 4 last year. We used up all our effort to build the lead then saw it disappear then lost. Then much like this game we went to Washington for game 5 and they had NOTHING left. They were there just because they're forced to by their contracts. They didn't show up and we knew the series was over after game 4. We actually had an effort after the Drury goal in game 5 of that Buffalo series, even though we lost. But that was at home.
Do you understand that missed call directly lead to a goal? And the game would have been 3-3 in OT.
Not 5-3 with Rangers facing elimination on Friday.
Heck of a missed call.
This is dumb. You are assuming they wouldn't have scored on the 4min PP they should have had with 6 min to go in the 3rd....maybe they call high stick that hit stepan and we score, but who knows.
Point is, you don't know what would have happened, so you can only evaluate missed call or not missed call. In my opinion, the opportunity they had on lundy after the high stick on stepan was probably less of an opportunity that a 4-min PP would have given....80% of the time, Lundy gobbles up that shot and there is no rebound for Gionta....just not tonight...
That is also a huge problem when your 3rd and 4th lines can't score for ****.
Rup, Feds, Mitchell, Prust, Boyle combined goals in the playoffs = 5. And 3 of those were by Boyle in the OTT series.
The thing is, in the playoffs your top 2 lines are going to get shut down more often than not because of the tight play. That is when you need your 3rd and 4th lines to step up, and they can't do it.
lost in the game 4 disaster was that the devils 1st goal was a major softie. a soft shot from the point by salvador that somehow sneaks through hank's pads. cant afford to give up goals like that in the playoffs.
Over 100 games, he's amazing....but he has these 2-3 game streaks where he breaks down, and that can cost you a series in the playoffs unless you have the best team ever in front of you.
I did say today is inexcusable.
However, I would like to see once in this series - because it has yet to happen - where the Rangers are pinning the Devils in the opening minutes, not the Devils.
Definitely. Out of our FAs, Prust and Fedotenko have to go. I'm definitely down to re-sign Mitchell though.

I wouldn't blame them for folding the tents Friday, arguably the most heart breaking loss in a long time
For the sake of my sanity and not having to deal with some really ****** devils fan friends I have, I really hope we take the game at the pebble and at least bring it back to Garden Ice one more time. I don't want our boys to go out to the classlessness that can come out at the pebble.

Sometimes the breaks don't go your way. That's why you can't just not show up for half the games. The Devils are winning this series because they played harder plain and simple.

That's the difference in this series. Our bottom six against your bottom six. I think I was trolling about this a month or two ago, and probably was laughed off the forum. But our bottom six has been an absolute revelation, especially with Elias being AWOL. But you guys shouldn't have that much of a problem fortifying that area in the offseason.

It was so blatant and it directly led to a goal.
There were missed calls all over the ice tonight, and the Rangers got a few breaks, BUT, the thing that annoys me the most is that the Devils game plan is picking opponents and subtly interfering everywhere on the ice. Just once would I like to see a ref call the picks.
If the Caps can shake off a 3OT loss ANNDDDDD A ****ING 6.6 secs to go goal with an OT loss...
Then this squad better be up to the ****ing task of shaking this **** off!!!!!!!!!!!!
I've ****ing had it!!!!!!
He hasn't been as bad as people make it seem. It seems people just want to agree with everyone around here, so they all think he's been awful, when he hasn't.
Why the **** has there been 4 Devil players interviewed and not one Ranger? This combined post game **** must have been thought up by some kind of moron working for MSG.

If they didn't score on the ****ing power play it would still be 3-3.
