If anyone on the team does take a run at Torres next, they just need to remember not to do it while playing them on the road. We all know how quick Quebeckers/Quebecois are at calling the police for an on-ice incident, after all.

Well, I suppose there's a score to settle on the ice, but I thought they got the suspension right, for once. They really hurt him where it hurts the most, his wallet.

According to NHLnumbers, Torres will make 1.75 million next year, and I think he was suspended for 25 games, correct? 25 games is about 30% of the season, and 30% of 1.75 is $525,000.00!

And he gets to think about what a POS he is for 30% of the season. When he gets back, I would just try to agitate him by saying stuff like, "Hey Torres, there's 5:25 left in the period!". LOL See how many dumb penalties I could provoke.

I wonder why we haven't heard anything about the appeal yet. Wasn't it about a week ago?

I'm worried that the suspension will be reduced

Except the playoff games count, so it's actually an 18 game suspension heading into next year. However, if my math is right, he'll still lose out on about $385K.

Sitting out those playoff games would be the worst kind of torture.

Oh, yeah, I'm sure it's killing him because they totally would have beaten the Kings with Torres

Well, he may have taken out Doughty, Kopitar, and Brown.

Well it's torture for Torres to sit out against each team in the playoffs because he has to think about what players he would cheap shot to make it a fair match for the Coyotes. Maybe he would have cheap-shotted Quick and they would have beat the Kings, you never know.

That's good news, hopefully there are no lingering effects.

Good news! I hope he continues to recover and his 100% ready to start the season with no lingering side effects that pop up later on.

So glad to hear he's doing well. I just picked him up as a UFA in my keeper pool and I am hoping he's got a lot more game left in him!

Keep the updates coming!

From today's interview with Q:

another update on hossa:

Quote:
Meanwhile, Hossa continues to recover at his home in Slovakia and is on target for training camp.

"The reports I've gotten ... are encouraging and positive," Hawks general manager Stan Bowman said over the weekend. "No setbacks or anything. He continues to progress."

yes, he feels good, but you can expect first seriuos update in late of July, when he will fly to Chicago to do various medical tests.

If Hossa plays this season, I would not expect much production from him. I suspect he was hurt much more severely than any of us really have been told.

I wish him well.

Is this anything more than speculation on your part?

Just a gut feeling?

I honestly don't know what to think. Although for him to be cleared to fly all the way to his homeland, that's a good sign... Right? If it were as serious as you might be suggesting, I can't imagine he'd be cleared for a 10+ hour flight with his head still being mush.

eh, I doubt it. Hossa, despite the injury, probably will benefit from the long offseason. Once he scrapes off the rust in the preseason (or early regular season if he isn't cleared yet), think he'll come into the regular season refreshed and ready to go.

I do feel bad for Hossa, but I'm optimistic he'll get to 60 points next season.

Good news. Hopefully I'm not too optimistic when I hope he'll be back to 100%.
