ECF: Devils troll the Rangers in Game 5, win 5-3 and take 3-2 series lead

Last night i set my alarm at 01:58 am so i could watch the game here in sweden. I forgot to set it on vibrate so my gf got pissed. I got up and the game started, my devils got of to a sweet start with 3 quick goals against the hated lundquist. Suddenly a monster awoke and started screaming:
- i cant go back to sleep, I hate u u *******. I curse u and your team hope they lose. Slams door to bedroom.
I quietly think, damn u women when i c prust score....fortunatley it ended well for my devils. My gf is still pissed tough.

Get her some flowers.

And you are not the first European Devils fan having that problem.

Sounds like someone needs to learn how to prioritise.

Because it's the cup. Also, I know that feel OP. I had an exam this morning but pulled an all nighter for Devils hockey anyway

This would have been a total media blackout day if we had lost, but now I'm looking forward to listening to all the ******** about how the Devils didn't deserve to win

The captain with 5 points in the last 2 games....nice.

I'm falling in love with that little Gionta.

Zajac is just complete. All around complete. And to think we played the whole season without him.

Were any of you guys not nervous during the game last night? Don't get me wrong, it really sucked to blow that 3 - 0 lead but I just never got the feeling that NJ wasn't going to get that game winner at some point. Very big contrast to say game 7 vs Florida when I was absolutely ******** bricks once Florida tied it at 2.

NJ certainly didn't play a great game but I don't think people are willing to give the rangers enough credit for that performance last night. Once the game got out of control in the first ten minutes, I was pretty much resigned to the fact that NJ was going to blow that lead in some fashion. 50+ minutes to save your season? The Rangers were looking for any excuse to play a great game and they got one. I firmly believe the better team is now ahead in this series, but the Rangers are ****ing tough. You don't get to 109 points if you're not.

The other thing was the goals. Callahan's goal was just a bad break, however, so was the Devils second goal for the Rangers. For me, those two wash out. The one I think Marty really wants back is the Prust goal. He really overplayed that one. I really can't be all up in arms about the Gaborik goal. First off, it looked like a damn penalty to begin with, but even so, Marty MUST play the puck for this team to have success. It has been vital. He's not perfect and sometimes mistakes are going to happen. He just really got handcuffed there and as "bad" as the goal was, I can honestly live with it. Bad timing for sure, but without his helping moving the puck, NJ isn't playing right now imho.

Can't wait for tomorrow.

Did anyone actually remember to check the box score for what penalties Prust and Harrold got called with on that play?

Quote:
09:32 NJD Peter Harrold : Roughing - 2 min
09:32 NYR Brandon Prust : Unsportsmanlike conduct - 2 min
The ref actually bought the dive. Holy ****.

Ref just sent them both.

And zajac and parise have been solid, lately and making contributions all over the ice. The fact we can ice a good C on nearly every shift has paid of extremely well.

Gionta has been great. If he keeps it up I can see another team overpaying for this playoff performance. Hope he stays though.
