Well it seems to me anytime there is a timeout or stoppage of play during our power play Sully is talking to the group out on the ice and drawing up plays.

Torts just stands there and watches.

I will say I beleive he runs the D and in that case he has done an outstanding job.

The coaches aren't the problem with the power play.

The power play was horrible under the Jagr-less Renney as well

Most of our guys are the outwork you type, not the out finesse you

the problem is when the finesse guys decide they are going to out work the grinders (Playoffs) or at least try to.

Apparently Tortorella.

That's why some wonder were is that 3rd coach at. I believe this questioned was asked by a reporter. His response "what kind of question is that?"

As much as I think the guy is lost on the PP, I'm starting to wonder if it's not just the coaching. Seems like every Rangers offensive assistant has been lost on the PP without Leetch.

Maybe it's not necessarily the coaching. Maybe it's the players too.

Our powerplay has been dog **** for years, how much of that is coaching vs talent.

Sullivan's a pretty good coach, PP is **** because we have ****** puck handlers, and our point men can rarely get a shot to the net.

The posts regarding sully in this thread are sickening. I guess we forget who coaches the defense and how far the youth has come this year. A defense that was missing staal for half the season. You people are ridiculous

No one here thinks Sullivan should get any credit for the growth of players like Girardi, McDonagh, Del Zotto and Stralman this year? Seriously? I know our PP is awful looking, but it's come up pretty big at times here in the playoffs, and the defense can't really be argued with.

LOL @ all of you thinking this a good thing. TORTS runs the PP and offense, Sulli runs the PK and d. Yes Sullivan draws up plays in game during time outs, but hes not the one coaching it during practice. Torts is very adiment about it being the HC job to run the PP.

And believe it or not, we have the best power play out of all the teams left int he POs.........

Of course. It much easier to blame a poor powerplay on a coach rather than your team (still) lacking creativity and talent.

isnt he also the one who tells them to make the cute bounce of the glass instead of shooting it down the ice on the PK too?

This thread might be more embarassing then the Gaborik thread.

Guy runs the defense, one of the, if not the best defense in the league and people are excited to see him leave?

Did you just become Rangers fans yesterday? Our PP has sucked for 7 years now. And there have been different coaches throughout that. Torts is a great coach, but he doesnt get a free pass with this PP.

You should be ashamed of yourselves.

I was just about to post this.

Whether or not Sullivan has been running the power play is irrelevant to me. We can always bring in someone else to take that over. Sullivan is a huge reason for our defensive success. We can hardly hope to bring in someone just as good.

I'm 90% certain that Sullivan does not run the powerplay. I've always liked Sully. Don't want to lose him.
