Devils Record When Faced With Closing Out A Series in Game 6
Finishing the series at home (3-5) and the total record is (7-8)
At home
1988 Devils survive an Islander comeback 6 to 5
1988 Capital crush Devils 7 to 2 but Devils take game 7 in Landover
1991 Devils robbed by refs as Penguins win after Boschman ruled to kick in puck
1994 Versus Rangers--No comment
1995 Devils advance to 1st Cup by beating the Flyers
2000 Devils beat the Leafs in the game where they only allowed a few shots on goal
2001 Devils blow chance at back to back Cups and then lose game 7
2003 Devils lose in OT to Senators but then take game 7 in Ottawa to advance to Cup
On the road:
1994 Versus Buffalo Marty loses in 4 overtimes to Hasek
1994 Devils prevail over Bruins after losing first two at home
1999 Heartbreaking loss to Penguins as Jagr scores late in game
2000 Arnott's overtime goal gives Devils the Cup
2001 Devils win in Carolina but pay later for not closing the series quick enough
2003 Devils unable to win the Cup in Anaheim but prevail in Game 7 at home
2007 Hmmm. Devils down 2 games to 1 against Torts and then win next 3
2009 Devils unable to close out against Canes and don't want to mention what happened next...

He's been behind some average teams in his defense.
Like being 10-9 on the Eastern Conference Regular season champion that was 1 point from the NHL President's trophy?
Lundqvist's lifetime playoff history sucks, any way you choose to slice it, on average teams, solid teams, or otherwise.

Yes, I know.
Just to clear this up, since I'm sure you're one of many, many posters here confused by my post, I did not actually think that Henrik Lundqvist is closely related to Carl Gustaf, the current reigning King of Sweden.
this game kind of gets me scared i dont want the rangers to change their game plan and i think they will. i want them to play defensively.. dubinsky really helped the rangers fore check.
was it just that devils needed to find there game? or were the rangers that good?

The fact of the matter is that this ranger team isn't that good. The only reason they're here is because of the aforementioned to go along with three core defensemen, a great coach and an incredible work ethic throughout the lineup. Yes, they have the #1 seed. But if you take him off the team we would have already rolled them in 4 or 5 games.

Perhaps that would have been a fair statement to make after Game 3. Not anymore.
Does anyone really think Biron wouldnt/couldnt have been better than Lundqvist in either Game 4 or Game 5?
If Lundqvist "stole" Game 3, he surely "returned the stolen merchandise" in Game 5.

We have more skill and size throughout our lineup, from lines 1 to 4. Tortorella knows this. He does not want this game to turn into firewagon hockey like last game. Yes, the rangers played well but they were feeding off the Garden crowd as well as the confusion that ensued on the devils side with a 3-0 lead. If they try to trade scoring opportunities with us at the Rock, we will obliterate them.
it's alittle chilly at work today. i needed to break out a sweater.
Thinly veiled brag about expensive headphones and a still shinny engagement ring.
You can't put anything past me...

I don't think he played that badly in game 5. His defense left Gionta all alone on the first one. Second one was a pinball redirection off Stralman's skate. Third one was a snipe low blocker side by Trav. I think fans were so spoiled by stellar play that they think he can stop high difficulty shots at all times. There is some luck involved as well. In game 3, Sykora was an inch or two from scoring. In game 5, the breaks didn't go Henrik's way.
