Really sucks that this team ended their season with 3 straight losses, but this is a valuable learning experience, and they will likely have some very important returning players next year. Hopefully they can take another run at it.

Still proud of the boys for coming this far. Can't wait to do this again next year.

Cant wait for next year!

Seconded.

i was disappointed with their Memorial cup performance BUT they did better than expected as a whole this year...I am looking forward to an older, stronger and more battle-hardened Oil Kings team next year to show what they're truly made of on the National Stage once more.

The last few days have left a lousy taste in my mouth so I can only imagine how those kids felt in the dressing room this evening. Things got progressively worse in every game during the Memorial Cup from the close call against Shawinigan in game one to tonight's trouncing. It was... odd to say the least.

When it's all said and done I had a lot of fun watching this team grow into a WHL champion this year. Hopefully, they learn from this experience and return to the championship in 2013.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but nobody owns the rights to Rhett Rachinski, right?

He's a fighter. I think, if he keeps working, he could get into the NHL as a third or fourth liner. Not many other players showed the same amount of heart this season.

I think Detroit did at one point but I'm pretty sure they have since expired.

You might be thinking of Brett Raedeke. He played for the Oil Kings a couple of years ago, and after his career in the Dub ended, the Red Wings signed him.

Yeah you're right that is who I'm thinking of. Thanks for clearing that up.

Shawinigan's success and the partisan crowd is reminding me why I've never been crazy about this format.

I agree. I mean, I'm happy for them. 3 games in 3 nights and coming away with 2 wins against teams as good as Edmonton and Saint John is impressive....but one of the league champions should win the Memorial Cup. They had to earn the right to be there. I'll be cheering for London.

Congrats to Shawinigan, played a hell of a series and it's cool to see the home team fans get the celebration.

Exactly my opinion.

Sadly, they got the mulligan and the extra month and took advantage.
