sullivan is hearing options. i wouldn't be surprised if he comes over... though torts would probably rather not have an assistant coach at all if sully is gone.

I have been wondering about the J.D situation since St. Louis has announced there new ownership. I was going to a thread on it & I never got around to it.

I would love to have J.D back in here in some way shape or form. It doesnt have to be broadcasting. He has dine such a good job with St. Louis I think he would be a better fit upstairs with occasional visits to the booth of course.

I doubt he would play second fiddle to Sather at this point.

J.D. is obviously better than Joe but I still like Joe a lot.

Maybe they can have all 3 of them in the booth? Would be epic.

Yeah I think MSG would do all 3 before they would fire Joe M.

But I also don't see JD coming back to the booth as much as I wish it would happen.

JD should just replace Sather as President of the organization.

He has the experience and I think he did a great job in St Louis getting them back to competitiveness

Groom him for GM IMO. Done a great job in St.L and just a class act all around. Make him the spokesperson for the team also since Sather never does.

JD as our assistant coach to replace Suckivan would be OUTSTANDING. Such a great hockey mind, and an eloquent speaker.

I don't see J.D as the type of guy who would want to coach. It's a daily grind & it's not the same type of lifestyle as a broadcaster. Sure the travel is the same but the responsiblities are much more intense.

JD leaving the announcing booth was a very happy occasion for me. He seemed to forget he was supposed to be announcing the game and not telling personal stories. I can't believe you all like him that much.

I swear to God if JD comes back in for Joe I'd eat everyone's pubes in here.

I would just love him in NY doing anything. I seriously think this club needs some "Oh Baby"

I would love nothing more than for JD to be a fixture within the organization again. I grew up with him and Sam practically as members of my household, they are as much a representation of the Rangers franchise to me as guys like Richter, Leetch, Messier, etc.

Micheletti is getting way too much undeserving dislikes here. He's extremely smart and he's not that big of a homer. Obviously JD is better, but do you guys hate him because he's not JD?

JD is a billion times better than Micheletti. JD had industry sources Joe couldnt pay for. .

My beef with Micheletti was that he offered zilch on prospects, trade rumors and kids in the AHL. You can tell that JD did his homework, while Joe just looks at the evening box scores and standings.

Joe should stick to national broadcasts. JD might have been an annoying homer towards the end of the 7-year drought, but he was the best the organization ever had as a color guy.

I really like Micheletti to be honest.

But how about this:

JD and Sam in the booth, Micheletti between the glass? Other teams use the 3rd man between the booth for local broadcasts so why cant we?

It's a paycheck and it keeps him in the fight. Lots of coaches and GM's hit the booth if the phones arent ringing.

Personally, I think if JD leaves, he'll get an FO job with another organization. I think JK and Larry Pleau had more to do with the Blues becoming an elite team than JD did.

That would be a good idea. I have grown up with Sam and JD but have grown to a likening of Micheletti over the past 2 years. I think he would do a better job in between the glass and having JD back with Sam would be heaven. Micheletti would love it he would have the best seat in the house.

That is silly. Gorton or Clarke are both FAR better options.

May as well add Messier to the mix(shudder).

Calgary's a mess. Arguably the least-stockpiled organization in the league. Their only two stars -- Iginla and Kipper - are old as balls.

Feaster inherited a mess.

Since 2002, Calgary's only drafted one 20 goal scoring forward (Lombardi '02). Their post-lockout drafting has been moronic. On top of that, they have a ton of terrible contracts with term.

Yeah, good luck with that JD. I heard Calgary's beautiful in the summer. At least the rodeos are fun.
