"Charlie has decided that he would like to focus on beginning his professional hockey career," BU coach Jack Parker said in the release. "We respect his decision and certainly wish him all the best in the future."
He was failing, not doing his work. Slacking off. Instead of face a suspension that would make him not play for awhile, he left. Thats what I got out of it.

pretty much
i cant blame him though. whats the point of going to class when chances are you are gonna be in the NHL next year.

True. But if he breaks his neck (godforbid) and can't play hockey anymore, what will he do? A degree is important when you play sports. Kid needs an attitude adjustment.
Local news in Windsor (on tv...no link) saying that no koko in windsor next year. He is exploring his options and the khl is most likely his detination.
This just sucks.

That rumor's been going around for about a week.
But why would it suck? He's not going to make the Bruins this fall, and he can't play in the AHL for two more years.

Being from Windsor...it sucks for us locals if you know what I mean. I know its been around for a few weeks but now that the spits gm mentions it...it confirms that he is not coming back as he (warren rychel) is preparing to move on with out him. Koko is a major part of the spits.

Well we did need another phantom prospect like Zinovjev and Soderberg to talk about....I wonder how Chia feels about this....
It is worrisome, but I pretty much expected it. He is not going to crack the Bruins line up for at least another 2 years (and he can't play in the AHL) and he is not going to be challenged in the OHL, so it makes sense from his perspective to go to the KHL.
I would think that he may even be better served to go to the KHL as it would further his development better than another 2 years in the OHL.

And he'll be a millionaire in the next two seasons....Why leave that to ride a bus in the AHL?

As a Sep. '93 birthday, Khokhlachev would only have to play 1 more year in the OHL, not 2.
Has Koko really dominated the OHL to no return? He certainly doesn't have Yakupov stats.. Sounds like he wants to get paid to me...
IF Koko was to play a healthy 2012-13 season on a young dynamic Windsor team, there is no doubt in my mind he'd be looking at a 50 goal 100 point season.

fwiw
Kirk, in your opinion has Koko been so dominant where he feels he OHL is no longer a challenge? Haven't seen him once but his stats sure don't show that...then add the rookie games where he seemed extremely raw.. I just hope three years from now we're still waiting for him to come over..

i certainly dont mind it righ tnow. i just hope he doesnt fall too in love with the money to come back to play on an ELC. but him coimng over for two season does show something
50 goals 100 points in his second year after being drafted are good projected numbers, but from what I recall the guys making the leap from those numbers directly to the NHL are generally in their draft eligible year and on a pretty steep development curve. Hall, Seguin, Skinner for example.
Hard to see him projected to be on the NHL roster over the next 2 seasons. I don`t think it would be a wise move for him skill-wise to go from what would be a 20+ minutes in maybe all situations to a lesser role in the KHL and playing fewer games, but it`s got to be hard to turn down the money. Hopefully he goes short (2 year) term contract and jumps back quickly.

Now you know how college hockey coaches/fans feel when their players back out on a commitment and jump ship to the CHL.
Bruins team source all but confirmed KoKo off to KHL...if Rychel saying it, then must be done deal.
Official did not know how KoKo's departure plays into CBA in terms of signing him prior to June 1, 2013 CHL deadline for 2-year window after player is drafted. I suspect that KoKo can be declared a "defected player" and rights retained because of situation if B's unable or unwilling to sign him to ELC while under contract to KHL team.
More to follow- trying to figure it all out, but this is some real gray area in the CBA and not easily interpreted based on established rules and guidelines.
