Didn't McBean date Alyssa Milano? That was his claim to (15 minutes) of fame from what I remember.

His toughness wasn't what I was questioning, and I don't fall for the Don Cherry BS that shield = wimp.

As usual, you are right on the money. He was one of the first of a long line of professional athletes she's dated.

Did the OP really say Nate Thompson? Are you nuts? Guy is oen of the better 4th liners in the NHL right now.

You were spot on with bruno Gervais though. if this is "wrost isles ever to play more than 100 games" Bruno takes the cake by a mile

Oleg Kvasha was a pain in the ass and never lived up tot he hype/potential, but was not even close to the worst

find me a worse season than this...especially for a guy who doesn't kill penalties or doesn't fight or win faceoffs, etc.
Did you watch any Islanders games this sason? Hes 19 years old and I noticed him on the ice all the time, and not for his mistakes, but because he had to carry Reasoner and Pandolfo. SDtatistically brutal season, btu on the ice he played better than anyone would think

Easily my most hated Islander ever. Hate him more than Sim and Gervais combined

Cheers,

Comrie led our team in scoring one year dude!

Brian Curran. Bad defense, NO offensive ability, always fought, ALWAYS LOST.

Hilbert wasn't that bad, as stated before he played out of his role. When he was playing 3rd or 4th line wing he was solid.

Nino future is hopefully a MUCH, MUCH better player, but the skill and basics I saw were humiliatingly bad. Worst I've ever seen until mid season.

Next year I expect him to be in the minors. After that? I expect a kid with size and talent to fight hard to make a name for himself. There is no way he can be as bad as he was in Oct-Jan. Worst I've ever seen at times. I still remember the head down hit just moments after he lost the puck.

It'll be fun remembering that if he does in fact use his size and skill and be a solid 2nd line power forward (though this organization has made the words, "power forward" a curse, a jinx)
i have this memory of nino too. nino looked so out of place during that time period. yes, i think he will be a pretty good nhl player, but he looked like a complete amateur out there at times.

I have an islanders mag laying around the house somewhere that i got at a game in nov of 1997, im SURE i can list 10 names from that magazine alone. I believe Eric Fichaud was on the front cover!

I would take that 15 minutes of fame any day... even if it was only 11 seconds!

we scored a goal in the 94 playoffs? doesn't seem like it.

What about the great Bob Beers, Vladimir Orszagh, David Harlock & Joe Sacco

ahhhhh the mid to late 90s, the true golden age of awful Islanders hockey.

This has nothing to do with bad players cause he was really good. But there was this girl in junior high who had a big nose & we would call her Benoit.

I might have told that anecdote before.

I didn't catch many Isles games, just 82 of them. Was Nino that bad? If he had to carry two vets who have played hockey longer than Nino has been alive, I'm willing to give him a break.

On the ice, he played better than anyone would think.....if he had a hook for a left hand, an eyepatch and a parrot that rested on his shoulder. Yeah.

It's called "emotional attachments to draft picks"
