The Official Offseason Thread

By request

So, we finished where I wanted/predicted. ECF finals. I'm not pleased losing to a team like we lost to, but it is what it is.

After this, I wouldn't mind seeing Gaborik go. How do we replace 40 regular season goals, though?

You don't.

You sign secondary scoring so he's not the only guy we have to rely on to score goals.

Gaborik showed his true colors in these playoffs. What a bum.

I can give a pass to the rest of a young team, but Gaborik is inexcusable. Can't expect Richards to play on a line with no one all game. Hagelin showed how much of a rookie he was and Gaborik was a waste space.

Need some more skill in the bottom six. Too many big, plodding skaters and not enough high speed, high energy guys.

Enough with the bottom lines. We need secondary scoring. I've been screaming about it all year and I will all offseason. We have one goalscorer. One. Not two. One.

all I want is for the team not to make a complete turnover. We've got a great bunch of guys, who showed their energy, and potential in the season, and couldn't carry it into the playoffs because of a lack of experience. That won't be the case next year

Its not just Gabs, but he certainly looks like he doesn't fit our system at all.

Boyle needs to go people. I said it time and time again, he is a dreadful skater and forechecker. His removal with a faster more skilled third liner would help this team out by light years. He single handedly kills any type of transition or offensive pressure.

I expect this offseason is going to be a massive facelift among our forward corps.

Gaborik for Nash?

Haha, I wish...

Need to get secondary scoring and a vet defenseman.

The bottom six needs to be gutted and they need some guys who can play bottom six roles, but can also score once in awhile, oh yeah, and win face-offs.

A first line LW is the first order of business however.

You want secondary scoring and grit? Add Ryan Clowe, Shane Doan, and David Jones.

I'm fine if Sully goes and Scott "Flash" Gordon comes into replace him.

It's been fun Feds, Emminger, Mitchell, and some other guys.

Who what? I have no idea who will be available in the offseason via trade or whatnot. Not sure who I want to target via UFA.

I do know that I want to get rid of Dubinsky.

Gaborik isn't going anywhere. I want Parise. If not, try and trade for Bobby Ryan. If not, I guess Nash. Ray Whitney?

I'm a big Gabby fan, own his jersey and was really happy with his return to form in the regular season.

I can't defend his performance in the playoffs at all.. the guy just didn't show up and it's not just the lack of production.

He straight up just didn't look like he was working hard most of the time. Can't believe I'm saying it but I wouldn't be sad to see the Rangers move him at this point.

Needs to go? No. Maybe as a third liner...but he is a great 4th liner.

I want Chris Kelly.

Sign Justin Schultz.
Find a faceoff specialist.
Remodel the bottom six
Get somebody to coach the PP or remodel the offense as a whole.

Agreed.

This team needs a Clowe/Clarkson/Neil type. A guy you can slot in anywhere and who will cause matchup problems whereever he is in the lineup.

This team needs work. This was out chance; we were six games away...it is very hard to make it back.

The Rangers don't have great talent, they have great goaltending and heart.

They will be hurt a lot from the playoffs due to wear and tear. Unless something is done to upgrade the offense with legit top six forwards and improve the back end of the d this team will be back to 2010-2011 fighting for right.

Have to assume Gabby plays 50 games as he never has back to back healthy seasons. Wear and tear will surely cause injuries and sag performance.

This was it these chances don't happen much and it is proven when you have to work as hard as the Rangers it just is too hard.

Either a MAJOR injection of scoring and depth on defense or this team will be back to fighting for eighth.

Sorry but let's be frank you cannot expect this team having a second quantum leap.

Boyle is usually solid at faceoffs. I wouldn't mind signing a 4th liner to win them, though, for the bottom pairing.

Well, you guys ripped off Ryan McDonagh when you dumped Scott Gomez. One of the best NHL moves of the decade.
