The story of the series...The Devils got to a fast start so often it was hard to come back that much.
And in this game we came back and then they got the final bounce and we failed to convert on the powerplay, Marty made a big couple of saves and the puck just went through Lundqvist
Thats on Torts system. COLLASPE EVERYONE IN FRONT OF LUNDY.
agreed that gwg was emblematic of all the problems with the philosophy. watching all those idiots flounder about while the puck slowly went in was heart wrenching. sure it won some games this year for sure, but they simply did not have the talent level for that style of play to take them to the end.
There's really no singular moment to point towards to give blame.
But IMO, the Rangers were up 2-1 late in the 2nd of Game 2. That late goal changed the series. It gave the Devils confidence they were lacking.
Gaborik is going to be a scapegoat. Hats off to him for staying healthy all season long but his effort level was putrid the entire postseason. Not a single goal off the rush. All his goals were on the doorstep.
You just can't fall behind early in games like the Rangers have done game in & game out
Disapointing, deflating & humilating. The Devils waited 18 years to get there revenge, & tonight they got it.
I don't give a **** about 41 regular season goals. Gaborik is a playoff no show. No heart, no grit, no effort. He can kiss my ass and catch the next flight out of New York.
I've been saying it about him since day #1 and all I got back was that I'm overreacting and Gaborik is an elite goal scorer! The regular season means absolutely nothing; when a player is a consistent "no show" in the playoffs, it's time to part ways and move on. Let some other team overpay Maryanne, "the king of the regular season compilers."
I feel for Henrik. A lot of weight on his shoulders. Hopefully he can look at the progress that has been made and look to the future for that Cup.
What team thats closer to the cup than NY needs a goalie? Not sure where he could go to have a better shot. Especially without gutting that potential team from such a trade.

He will never get the cup on this team. Its hard to look forward to next year when there is some GLARING coaching issues that signing some new players will not fix. Torts got us here but he was outcoached A LOT in this Playoffs. That is a fact.
Fatty outplayed Hank End of story with the game on the line he robbed Richards and Dubi while Hank went for a swim and never got up.. Hank we live and die with you and you killed us this series.
Richards has a pass cuz he played very well the whole playoffs, and looked tired.
Gaborik however, just doesn't get the real GAME of hockey, get that guy outta here.
All in all, it was a pretty good season, I expect them to continue to grow for a few seasons yet.
I would like Torts to have a 2nd style of play, perhaps less hard-working, for a period a third of the way from the playoffs, where they are anle to take a break, it's clear they got really tired. They need some sort of fall-back during the season, where they can recharge a bit. Who cares about the 1 seed, take some L's, still make the playoffs, then have the energy to win using your hard style.
The people defending Gaborik on the "Gaborik soft as charmin thread" just didn't understand that he is the kind of player you don't want in the playoffs but now they do. How many of the Devils would you rather have than Gabby?
Very proud of this team. Tremendous season. This run will prove to be invaluable playoff experience. Now Girardi, McDonagh, Del Zotto, Staal, and Hank can go to sleep for a month straight.
its time like these were we find out how much each of us care
i feel sick, real legit sickness right now, coming this far to lose in overtime is beyond the word SUCKS
i see some of you saying "whatever we will get them next year", comments like that make me think "this guy doesn't care as much as me"
if your going on with your night normally like nothing happened you must not be much of a fan
i follow this team, i watched every second of every playoff game, and atleast 60 regular season games, and the ones i miss i get live updates, in the off season i follow every single dam day
it just maddens me how some of you have this "whatever" attitude
You really have a lot of nerve to tell people that they're not "real" fans because they're posting about how they're feeling. I'm sure each and every one of us feel absolutely sick to their stomach just like I do right now. On top of that, depression and angst. Just because they don't post about it doesn't mean they don't feel it too.

you guys weren't watching the game?
that was funny to read..i went back to see the first post...it was ballsack.
i had to listen to it on the radio ...ugh..
it would have been much worse if they lost in 94...facing all the penguins and islander fans in high school the next day
