This year - Over or Underachievement ? (Torts/Fatigue/Complain and feel better)

I just cant wrap this year around my head yet, check this:

1) Make elite UFA singing in Brad Richards - Richards Delivers an excellent year (CHECK)
2) Henrik will most likely win the Vezina - we posses a top 2 goalie (CHECK)
3) McD clearly has been the best Dman in the playoffs (CHECK)
4) Finish the year in first place with a healthy roster and a rested goaltender (CHECK)
5) Torts up for coach of the year (CHECK)
6) Gabby finishes 3rd in goals (CHECK)

How can we just be happy getting eliminated in the ECF? We've nearly lost every series - it just doesn't make sense to have all this and to struggle so much.

This is a clear recipe for a cup win.

Not enough talent. (CHECK)

Over achievement by this team, great experience to build off though.

Overachievement. We didnt play real good, and still managed to squeeze by. Both in the regular and the post season.
Team has tons of character, but not enough talent.
Given the right moves are done this off season, this team will be real strong next season.

Over achievement

Which is scary considering we didn't even have all the pieces, I can see us being back here again next season.

Horrible Power Play
Disappearing players in the playoffs
Inability to clear the zone
Predilection to fire blind passes to the middle leading to turnovers

I hate Torts. You guys can blow him up all day. We could have had no coach and been here.

I'm scared that we may become an east coast version of the Sharks, wings (of late) & Vancover.

Excellent regular season & tremendous let down in the post season.

As much as I like Torts, he was horribly out coached all post season long. Stubborn to the point where he would roll with tactics that obviously weren't working.

I very much disagree. Those of you who think Tortorella should go: it's not gonna happen.

Also, overachieved.

They are real young. This is a learning experience. Only one team wins the cup. Look at last yr then this. It was a great yr that just fell short

Did you witness our inability to score ALL season? If we had enough talent every series would have ended different. We couldn't put teams away.

Absolutely overachieved, but when you get there you wish you win it all...It hurts so much.

Hopefully we rebound the way Devils did back in 1995, we have a great core.

Go Kings

Look, I said it in the Post game thread, but I'll repeat myself here. Torts gained my respect and he DID get us this far, that deserves credit. But you can't ignore the fact he was SERIOUSLY outcoached in all three series. We just scraped by Sens and Caps. Torts needs to seriously think about adjusting parts of his system. Burying the players into the ground to the point of exhaustion isn't working.

And again...because it hasn't been said NEARLY enough.

Overachieved and the season a serious success.

Sather has enough information now to make proper moves in the offseason.

Team was cooked. From March to today, cooked. From March 1 to today, Rangers went 21-20.

That said, this team needs serious help on the PP and a fourth line that can contribute about 10 goals per player.

1) Good, yes. Excellent? Far from it.
2) Hank will always be a top 3 goalie in the world, regardless of winning the Vezina or not.
3) Agreed through and through.
4) Healthy for the most/perceivable part.
5) Very, very debatable the way he was outcoached in just about every PO series.
6) 3rd in goals, 1st in lazy play.

Overachieved. I like the team with Boyle and Prust on line 4. Rupp as 13th forward. Get a better full time #6 defenseman (Erixon).

To me Lundqvist looked out of gas more so than anyone else these last two losses.
