Wake up, the team blew it.

"oh they are young, that means they will be better next year"

Really? How about the pens? They grew up a year and lost in the first round easily.

How about those flyers who really have the young guns who will be better ?

How about hank who is turning 30 next season? Is he still only getting better ?

Face it, we ****ing blew it this season. Playoffs is ALL luck. We had it through 2 rounds. Not this round.

All you so happy we are young means jack ****. Wake up will you?

And last, WILL WE EVEN HAVE A SEASON NEXT YEAR WITH THE LOCKOUT?

MAKE THAT a 31 YEAR OLD LUNDQVIST.

You are right ... there is a lot of luck involved. A LOT of it ... in any professional sport ... having said that ... appreciate a team that works hard to CREATE its own luck 9/10x ... **** this I am proud of this group.

I'm just as upset as you are. But look at previous Cup winners:

2008 Wings- Veteran team already, grew up together.
2009 Pens- lost in the SCF the year before that.
2010 Hawks- lost in WCF the year before
2011 B's- lost in 7 games in round 2. As big of a choke job as possible. WAY worse than this.

If it's "all luck" then how exactly did this team blow it?. Crushing defeats like this sometimes trigger dynasties. 80's Oilers got their doors blown off by the Islanders before going on to win multiple cups. '94 Devils lost to us in OT of Game 7 and then went on to win cups in '95, '00, and '03.

This is only the beginning for this team and I firmly believe that there is a lot more to come. This experience is great for guys like Stepan, Del Zotto, Hags, McDonagh, & Kreider.

Really? Sorry that you might be bitter, I'm 20 years old. I was 2 for the last cup and remember diddly-squat. This was the furthest run I've seen and had all the faith in the world in them. Yes it hurt a lot to see them eliminated by the Devils. Listen though, they are really a young group. All developing. Let them sign some pieces in the off-season, nothing Wade Redden status, but just improve the team and I see us contending for a long ways to come. Even my friends who are die hard Isles and Devils fans admit it, and you're complaining about Hank being 31...really? SMH. Let's Go Rangers.

i can't help but agree with the OP, playoffs is a combo or luck and skill

rangers had both, top seeds knocked out, got some bounces

next year so many things can go wrong, injuries, hitting a hot goalie in round 1, so many things have to go right just to make it to the finals

as young as this team is, pens/bruins/flyers will probably are be better and stronger next year

i can't help but feel like we blew it

I'm sorry to be the one to say this, but if you can't appreciate the work that has gone into your team, after the years of heartache to finally being a legitimate contender, then there is no saving grace for you.

Why would you make a comparison to a team who recently won the cup to prove your point?

You're right we blew and we will never win now delete your account and stop watching the team. What's the point, right? Kthxbye

It's a sad day when a Devils fan has to knock some sense into a Rangers thread.

Any good team has a little luck..

We strugled in the play off's whilst we had a great regular season..

As for the last 2 games, several players either looked tired, hurt or uninspired..Still feel it was a huge mistake not to play zuke in the last game.

Like I posted yesterday ;

Opponents have figured Hags and Stepan in the playoffs a long time ago - so getting a relativly unknown playmaker who plays with his heart on his sleve, doesn't back down, throws his body around, scores and makes tape to tape passes in dangerous areas can ONLY help at this point..

He could've replaced Boyle, Stepan,Hags, Rupp or Prust and been a difference maker.

But This is the frustration of loosing talking I might have a different view tomorrow after it sinks in..

most teams dont just go from knocked out in the 1st round as an 8 seed to 2nd in the league this team is special, it was one hell of a year and most cup champs dont go from barely making the playoffs to winning the cup just a fact usually they are experienced teams with the average age in the late 20s early 30s and have been past the 2nd round in their career. this was a good year and it has set the bar for next year no more "i hope we make the playoffs" now our mentality should be "i hope we win the division, the conference, the presidents trophy, and the cup"

This guy gets it. And he's not even a fan of the team! Some of you are just so jaded from the past that you cannot possibly fathom a successful future.

Henrik Lundqvist turning 31? Oh no! It's over. Cup hopes are dashed.

After all, goalies never achieve anything when they turn 40.

Nothing worse than the 4th youngest team in the NHL making it to Game 6 of the ECF.

If we were only the Oilers........

Very proud of the team this year. I even thought we overachieved there for a moment, but it showed the character and identity instead of being lucky bounces on our defensive minded game throughout the season. Am I bitter? Hell yeah! Do I want to blame someone for it? Yes, but not our own players. At least difficult to evaluate the year the morning after. Drink coffee, eat breakfast and start to think of your summer - October will be here sooner than you think.

Thanks for a good year - Better things will come with some tweaking.

(Oh - And if I could I would delete or rename the Devils from my NHL12 game if possible. Especially name a guy after his overweight and overaged persona) - Yes, bitter!
