Fedotenko's status on the team next year

What do you guys think? He had 7 points in 20 playoff games, which wasn't terrible. He was much worse in the regular season than last year, clearly he's wearing down.

If you would take him back, what price would you want to keep him for?

I don't think he is coming back although I am indifferent one way or another.

He was our best bottom 6 player in the playoffs, besides Boyle's 3 game hot streak.

He's probably not coming back, though.

It's a very good question--Fedotenko showed why he was signed during the playoffs, but he's definitely running down. The organization needs someone like him next year, but I doubt he should be the one filling the roll again. Time to get someone a little younger.

This is probably the toughest of the free agents. I love the guy and he's been great in the past two playoffs for us but it may be time to create some room and get even younger. I won't be mad regardless of which way they go though whether it's resigning him or letting him go. If we do resign him, it shouldn't be any more than a year.

If they can't get an upgrade, honestly, I keep him.

Rupp was awful for the most part, play him against some teams and make the 4th line Feds-Boyle-Prust.

Then get an actual third line, either by signing third liners or moving Arty and Hags to the third.

This I can get behind. The problem is when the Feds-Boyle-Prust line becomes our third line like it was a good chunk of the year. That's simply not gonna work. If you told me that line's our 4th line though I'd be ecstatic because that's a damn good 4th line.

Bring him back, Feds is a playoff guy. Showed it this series turning it on when nobody else was. The guy is a warrior. Remember the 5 on 3 kill against Washington? All Feds. He's not the fastest, strongest, quickest, most skilled hockey player, but he's as good of a team player as you get. He's a keeper in my book as a guy that can play on the 4th/3rd line on this team when needed.

^^^^ ditto. He turns it on in the playoffs. Good 4th line guy for the right price

Assuming you can find some extra offense somewhere in the offseason (which, honestly, has to be the #1 priority, be it Parise or Nash or any of the other second tier guys like Versteeg), he's probably the most defensively responsible LW on the team. That counts for a lot on the bottom 6. I'd bring him back.

I'd definitely bring Fedotenko back... at the right price and team fit, of course. He's done well considering he was picked off the FA scrap heap as a late off season tryout a couple seasons back.

He played ok during the regular season, and he picked it up during the playoffs. He's kind of a Prospal replacement... a solid vet presence with less offense. You still need guys like that. A tentative "yes" in my books. It's not a matter of his play, its a matter of the team fit by next fall.

i suspect - whether it be feds or someone else - the rangers will have a veteran checking forward for the bottom six. it seems torts like to have that kind of player as part of his formula.
i don't think rupp fills that role in torts' eyes.

depends entirely on off-season acquisitions. we may need feds. i'd sign him, but i'd take zuc over him in a game situation any day. feds actually fit fairly when in the bottom 6 role when he wasn't hurt (or <-6 half the season). one guy we don't need is mike rupp. tbh i think the guy brings more trouble than he's worth. sure, he turns it on during the playoffs, but he's too inconsistent and doesn't have the skill to bring us that secondary scoring we lack... but unless we can move him he's still under contract and he stays. (his contract makes sense when you consider mcilrath coming up in a year)

I really dont want to have to live with this guy for 82 games in hopes he's playa like he did this postseason next year, he's clearly getting older and worm down I think we can find better options.

Feds is a goner guys. They have to make a few roster changes. Bigger question I'ls if prust Is back?

Barring a deal u can pencil in Richards gaborik Kreider hagelin stepan Callahan Boyle rupp Dubinsky anisimov. That's 10

After that I want zuccarelo to play full time, they then need a faceoffman and a sniper winger. Hopefully prust back no Feds. He is the Bonny of next yr

that's what i'm thinking... shame zucc is gone. i can't see prust turning down a contract here at a reasonable price, but does the coaching staff want him back with our need for secondary scoring? rupp can handle the enforcer role and he's already hitting the cap.

i'd bet pruster's back, but i could see it going either way.

Much rather have Prust back than Feds. Fedetenko is simply too old to play 82 games plus playoffs.

The bottom 6 need to have legs come playoff time. Thats something that the Devils just clearly showed us

No, we're not.

Signing a 3rd line (or 2nd line RW and moving Cally to the 3rd line) RW is now one of our priorities.

Maybe we can sign him around New Years? Gives him more time to stay fresh.

Oh yea less ice time for Cally is smart. No chance in hell that happens ad they get a LW

I agree with hagelin to third line lw

Don't bring him back. I like our first line, but we need 2nd and 3rd line scoring depth.
