The ump in the Braves/Cards game may be calling one of the worst games I have ever seen, for both teams. His strike zone changes with every pitch it seems. And some of these aren't even in the same neighborhood as the plate and getting strikes.
Also, Freddy just put a good teachable moment on tape. Hustled out what looked like a ground out to 2nd base, and managed to beat the throw and drive in the go ahead run in the eighth.
Jays are just about out of relievers here in the 13th
So that means that they might have to put a position player in to pitch then. That's always entertaining to watch. Hopefully, the Jays can pull off the win.

Ya we used mathis for an inning last night too looks like igarashis warming up, he pitched over 40 pitches last night so we'll see how that turns out
Agreed, but who's coming up to replace him? Teheran needs more seasoning and JJ is a lost cause at this point.
Redmond, or start Medlen. 6 innings of Medlen is more important than him being the 4th reliever in our bullpen at the moment. EOF, Venters and Kimbrel have their own problems to work out and Livan has been serviceable.

I forgot about him. I could get on board with Redmond coming up. It definitely doesn't carry as much risk as bringing up Teheran or taking Medlen out of the pen would.
Besides having that important role in the pen, the team can't just keep bouncing Medlen back-and-forth from the pen to the rotation. EOF shouldn't be relied upon in the 7th inning. He's getting murdered by righties this year and should predominantly be used as a LOOGY.

Well the mistake in my opinion was Medlen not starting from the beginning although Delgado hasn't been the problem. There's far more value in having someone good starting than coming out of the pen. More innings pitching (starter vs. reliever) is always better. The bullpen is one of the easiest things to fix (e.g. Cards last year got a new pen at the deadline) so I'd rather get the staff settled and worry about the pen later. I agree that EOF's year last year was an aberration.
Another option that I just thought of that is probably better than Redmond or Medlen is stretching out Livan and letting him make a spot start. I don't see why he wouldn't be able to go 5 or 6 innings for a start or two while Minor goes to Gwinnett for a start or two. It keeps the pen virtually intact (call up Gearrin or Varvaro in the meantime with Martinez being the long guy).
You'd think after dogging one last night he wouldn't have done the same tonight. But hey, there you go.
Bobby may have had his faults, but he doesn't stand for that crap.
Yeah, I thought he should have gotten yanked.
I got a kick out of Moylan pissing and moaning on Twitter about the fans booing Atlanta tonight. The team's on the verge of losing their 7th game in a row. What do you expect?
Well I got my wish, Medlen sent down to AAA to stretch out for starting. The sad news is that Delgado is batting 8th today and George Constanza got the recall and is in the f***ing lineup today. Guess it can't be worse than it's been
They also won a shootout tonight against the Cards.
Pastornicky got sent down and Simmons is up from AA. Looking forward to seeing what he can do.
Nice to get back on the winning ways. The move had to be made right now, the Rev has been struggling with the bat and has the worst fielding percentage at SS in the league. Simmons has gold glove written all over him and that's what we need right now. He's a contact hitter (with no power) but that's good enough for now. Sucks that he has to be thrown into the gauntlet though going against Strasburg in his first MLB game.
