Devils scored one more goal in the series than we did. More scoring from our bottom lines like they got would have helped but I would qualify chosen's remarks which is kind of there but not quite about 'lack of offensive depth' by saying that we lost the series IMO along the walls and in the corner. They were bigger, stronger and more experienced than we were and it showed. It's why they could keep us pinned down in our own end for at least the first 4 games of the series and the first periods of games 5 and 6. Truly I think the Rangers were figuring them out--staging comebacks in the last two games--but we ran out of both time and luck.

Fair.

Less of a defensive problem more like a problem with our defensemen?

Not really, systemic. Torts wants our Dmen to lob pucks out quickly along the boards. We don't get enough support from our wings along the half wall because they usually stay in the lanes in their collapsing shell.

I feel if the Rangers really made a conscious effort working on their breakouts we would have looked much better in the playoffs.

edit: GA = Goals Allowed
we were not spectacular at all but we werent awful either. if we had gotten an extra bounce or two we could be playing game 7 tomorrow

OPs overreacting but we certainly blew it. Philly knocked the Pens out for us and opened the door. All we had to do was go beat the Devils and we just weren't good enough. We had as good of an opportunity as you can get. Everything worked out for us with the exception of getting our own **** together and winning when it mattered.

Anyone else seeing a pattern here? It's been done countless times, and we're next.
LOL have you noticed the pattern of teams that lost in the conference final or the final and did **** all the next year? If anything, that's the pattern.

Jagr has more talent that our whole forward corps combined.

of course. I just feel like we're sometimes talking to much about bounces and less about our breakout. We shouldn't rely on thinking about bounces...you remember the game against the Debs earlier in the season where we played a awesome game and they tied it early in the third and went ahead late in the game off a ridiculous bounce of the boards behind Hank? That's not justice...but it happens...We shouldn't look to want to play like that.

Of course I'm not saying we play like this, but NO team should rely on lucky bounces....Make your own luck.
