Edmonton - Winnipeg

To Edmonton:
D Dustin Byfuglien
F Aaron Gagnon
3rd Round Pick

To Winnipeg:
F Ales Hemsky
F Teemu Hartikanen
D Theo Peckham

Edmonton gets a big body Dman, signed long term. Albeit hes not the best defensively, but Edmonton doesn't have that offensive dman to play with their young forward group and gets a good player here. Gagnon could fill in a RW/C spot on the third or 4th line in Edmonton as an energy guy, although I really just added him into the trade to give EDM a roster forward on a decent NHL contract back.

Winnipeg fills the 2nd line RW spot with a very good option in Hemsky, while adding a bit of experience to the top 6. We seem to have an abundance of OFD and while trading Buff isn't necessarily the highest return of our offensive dmen, Enstrom is probably more valuable to the team right now and makes him expendable. Plus adding Hartikanen, who has shown good potential and a real mucker/toughness defender the Jets are lacking in in Peckham to play on the bottom pairing with Stuart.

Couldnt really decide whether WPG adds a 2nd or a 3rd, but Im thinking a third...Am I way off here?

Dont know why you would want hemsky unless your doctor is getting bored on the job. Doubt big buff gets traded for anything but a center.

Done deal. I'd love to have Byfuglien, he would help on the blue line big time. And Hemsky is expendable, especially if we draft Yaks

I'm fine with this, but would it be possible for Buffy to be switched to Bogosian instead and Hartikainen to be taken out? I think he'd fit our team better age wise, and Hartikainen will likely be a solid bottom 6 forward, and if he can improve his skating, he might be the LW of the future to play alongside RNH and Eberle.

Yea definitely not. Your not going to get a defensive stud for LESS then buff. You'd have to sweeten the pot. Alot.

Probably Eberle.

There's no way since Penner is the "King" at being lazy!

Smallish, experienced two-way AHL center and reliable top 6 guy for your minor affiliate. Decent call-up if you're in a pinch but never going to find a regular NHL job. Other factors: good guy to have around your prospects, has had some injury issues.

For some reason nobody can figure out the second year of his deal is a one-way for league minimum next year.

Anyway, that said, I'm not that enthusiastic about this deal for the Jets, but meh... that's Aaron Gagnon for you.

haha yea lol

on a serious note tho anyone who says byfuglien isnt lazy is fooling themselves.. he was a great player with chicago and he still is an offensive threat but the way we threw penner out i could see the same thing happening to big buff

ebs is on another level... like universe level right now... the skys the limit with him on top of that hes on an elc, he aint ever goin anywhere lol atleast i hope not

maybe we could work something out like klefbom and a 2nd for bogosian not trying to be a homer but i think thats pretty fair.

Not intending to flame, but asking to replace Buff with Bogo is like the Jets asking to replace Hemsky with one of your elite young forwards. Maybe not quite to the same extent, but you get the idea. Bogo is a stud, and with his potential he is likely the most untouchable Jet.

Interesting proposal. Gagnon doesn't do anything for EDM though and I would hate to move Hartikainen. Any chance of a Buff for Hemsky, Peckham and a 3rd (or Omark) type deal?

Klefbom and a 2nd for Bogo is fair?
Just like Bogo for Eberle is fair.

Buff may be lazy, but when he's on his game is a huge factor and can control games. He's still one of the top scoring D in the NHL and everyone trashed him anyway. He may be lazy but at least he's effective and productive. Up until these playoffs Penner was neither. Buff has way more value thn Penner, and most ppl wouldn't give what it would take to get him.

Lol at Klefbom and a 2nd for Bogo too..
