If the cap reaches 76 million Detroit will have 32 million to spend how do you like those apples

That's assuming hockey revenues of $4B and that the next CBA will continue to be a 57/43 split of revenues between players and owners. That simply will not happen.
I anticipate, assuming $4B in revenues which I'm not sure if that figure is even accurate, the cap will be closer to $66M.

The Blueshirts will have approximately $20 million of space under a summer cap that’s likely to be in the neighborhood of $76M, but it’s impossible to know whether the 2012-13 cap will exceed, be equal to, or decrease from last season’s $64.3M when it’s reset under the new collective bargaining agreement.
my only wish this off-season as a Pens fan is to see Suter and Parise signing with two different teams. those two signings with a team like the Wings would put them on top. or if the Devils would manage to sign Suter somehow...
One of the Gm's, I can not remember who, suspected the cap would be 69 million next season.
Again that's only if the CBA doesnt' change the split (which I do see happening). If that's the case, the cap likely won't change much. Heck it could even go down a bit.
all this means is that a bunch of mediocre players are going to get very rich.
I love Chris Kelly, but the thought of him as a 4.5+ million a year player is just plain silly.

Agree I like him to. He's a 3 million max player. But if your him why not get as much as you can. But your right players will get paid top dollar at that point.
I seriously doubt teams will spend to the maximum summer cap considering the actual cap for next year under the new CBA may be much lower with no guarantee of amnesty buyouts.
I'm not one of the guys who posts in the BoH forum, but don't you think the next lockout is going to see the "splits" become more even, kind of like the NBA? If it's 57/43 right now, don't you think it will be 52/48 or something? The NHL's got to push for that considering owners have to spend almost double now than they did at the beginning of the lockout.

I cannot see this happening, with a new CBA coming up, too many teams are losing money in the US.

they can't stop it it's based on how much money the nhl brings in more money means higher cap
Except the new CBA will likely not have the same revenue split. The cap may reach that high over the summer, but will likely fall by as much as 10 mil by the time the season starts.

I would be absolutely shocked if there wasn't a rollback in salaries if the cap was to drop significantly in the new CBA.
