That's silly; Stepan doesn't have anywhere near the size or skillset that Kreider has, doesn't skate well enough and gets knocked off the puck way too easily. Hagelin is fine; he just ran out of gas because of the long season.

How exactly did Torts ruin those two guys anyway?

The same with Zucca. This kid would be an amazing player on a team that would let him play to his strengths...

The reason this team has no offense is Torts.

This is my opinion and I am entitled to it.
Of course you're entitled to your opinion but you couldn't be more wrong in your assessment.

We had to play the system that Torts put in because we have such a dearth of offensive talent and size amongst our forwards and as talented as we are on defense, we lack size and physicality there as well.
The main reason that Stepan has been productive in his first 2 regular seasons is because of his high hockey IQ and his passing ability, no other reason. There is nothing remarkable about him as a player; he lacks size, physicality, and he's a lousy skater with a very mediocre shot. Unless he gets stronger and improves his skating a lot, he will continue to run out of gas at the end of the season and his game will never thrive in the grueling format of the playoffs, much like Gaborik who's also been a bust in the playoffs thruout his career as well.

Hagelin will be fine because of his elite skating skills and hockey smarts but he has no business being on the 1st line; he's more a 3rd line player going forward.

Zuccarello?? He's got skill but he's smart enough to know that his overall game just isn't good enough to be successful in the NHL and so goodbye to him.

I hate to be the bearer of bad news but we aren't as close to getting to a SCF as many of the posters around here think we are. The senile old man (Savior) needs to get off his ass, be creative and upgrade this roster so that it is bigger, more productive and much harder to play against in the playoffs.

I would say he'll come out hard, slump for a bit then adjust and finish strong. Around the 20 & 20 mark. Maybe 25 goals.

I think Stepan and Hagelin's regression at the end of the season had more to do with them being fresh out of college and not adjusted to an 82+ game season.

I agree with this entirely, except MZA would have failed anyway, cause he doesn't have the speed to get separation to be effective.

If we didn't spend so much of the season expending extra intensity into D and the physically draining diving for + blocking of shots, we would definitely have had more in the tank.

Get rid of Torts.
Messier/JD/Sullivan could be alternate choices.

I dont hate Torts. I think he is a great motivator and got everyone to buy into his system.

The problem IS his system though. He is very closed minded and is a poor in game coach. He is often out coached. He has no adjustments to be made. Remeber his plan for more offense? "Pray"? Really?

Worse part is that he doesnt let the dogs off the leash when he needs to.

Ehh, I dont want to even think about it anymore..... Bring in an offensive specialist AND LET HIM DO HIS JOB!

LOL

Wha?

Is this real life? I hope your being sarcastic.

I have issues with Torts for sure and at times want him gone. But the alternatives are hilarious. Only one of those three is even a coach.

Yeah, because the system is why Steps and Hags were no shows in the playoffs.

Some of you are unbelievable.

15-20 goals would be solid. I expect he'll tail off by the end of the season. Let him learn how to handle the rigors of an NHL season and how to deal with the pro lifestyle from guys like Richards.

Prucha had like 25 of those goals on the PP with Jagr feeding him the puck.

Exactly. Kreider is in a perfect situation for a young player to succeed. He is playing on a great team learning from lots of true professionals such as Richards, Callahan, Girardi and etc. Although if Kreider gets top 6 ice time with power play time I can see him getting 25+ goals.

20-20 is fair.

He's capable of more goals.

He scored 3 in the Conference Finals alone. The kid is going to score goals.

Coaching staff is going to have more time to mould him. They couldn't really in the middle of the playoffs.

ill be honest...if he gets the ice time and plays his heart out 25-30 goals with 20-25 assists but if hes on the 4th line for a week after every mistake 10-15 goals with 15 assists

He scored three in the Devils series.

Gaborik scored 40 in the regular season.

Callahan nearly scored 30.

Tortorella doesn't prevent goals for.

Enough.

25 goals, book it. He toyed with much of his opposition physically and the speed of his snap shot is nothing short of amazing, and his skating speed... Well, everyone knows about that. In game 6 against the Devils he had 3 or 4 big hits. I love, love, love this guy's game. If he doesn't mind dropping the mittens every now and then we got ourselves a can't miss power forward boys.
