A poster on HF mentioned talking with Nicholls (who had been on vacation) and that Nicholls said the team and his agent had had some talks but nothing concrete.

Renaud Lavoie just confirmed two signings on twitter, one of which was previously rumored.

Quote:
Predators signent Joonas Jarvinen: 2 and / 625 000 $ moy (2 volets)
Translation: Predators sign Joonas Jarvinen 2 years, $6250,00 average (2-way)
Quote:
Blackhawks signent Mac Carruth / 3 and / 525 000 $ moy (2 volets)
Translation: Blackhawks sign Mac Carruth / 3 years / $525,000 average (2-way)

https://twitter.com/RenLavoieRDS/sta...14666767769600

Jarvinen, 23, had 5 goals and 23 points in 57 games with Pelicans of the SM-liiga last season. He was never drafted.

Carruth, 20, had a GAA of 2.96 and a Save PCT of .904 in 63 games with Portland of the WHL last season. He was a 7th round pick, 191st overall, in 2010.

Preds show once again that they love scouting the WCs. Jarvinen impressed a lot of people on Finland's top pairing. A few years ago they grabbed Antti Pihlstrom and Linus Klasen for similar showings.

Hopefully Jarvinen turns out a little better.

So, uh, this is probably the greatest prospect story we're likely to hit upon this year about Darren Kramer who signed with Ottawa today.

Quote:
It was an idea born of annoyance: He kept getting his hand stuck in the peanut butter jar when he reached in to get the last bits at the bottom.

So he came up with a jar that comes in two stages.

When the top half is empty, that portion is unscrewed from the bottom portion and thrown away, while the lid finds a new home on the bottom half (Check out: ca.sports.yahoo.com/blogs/jrhockey-buzzing-the-net/ottawa-senators-prospect-darren-kramer-spreads-word-peanut-153830053.html).
Quote:
“I like to have peanut butter in the mornings on my toast. I have big hands and I’ve always got peanut butter on my hands. It’s that idea that motivated me to do it.”
http://www.senatorsextra.com/main/se...gn-two-players

As one Senators writer wrote (I'm sorry I can't remember who) 'It's funny because it's exactly like something his namesake on Seinfeld would have invented'.

They agreed on that deal before the WC's, though.

Aaron Portzline tweeted that Columbus is unlikely to sign Mathieu Corbeil

Quote:
Not based solely on Memorial Cup performance, but signs suggest #CBJ will not attempt to sign Corbeil, thus allowing him to re-enter draft.
Quote:
Spoke to two scouts today about Corbeil. If he goes back into the draft, one said he'd go in 4th or 5th round, another guessed 5th or 6th.
Quote:
Both scouts also noted that this is a very good "goalie" draft coming up in Pittsburgh.

I think Järvinen might turn out great for Nashville. He has taken some big steps lately.
Good size, aggressive, decent skater, strong. Definitely build for the NA style.

The Preds signed Pihlström in the summer of 2007. He played for the Ads in 2007-2008. He played in his first WC in 2008. Klasen has never played in the Ice Hockey WC. So, I’m not sure what your point/fear is, but your supporting info is incorrect.

Like all Pred prospects, I look forward to seeing Järvinen at camp. It will be interesting to see if he can push some of the Preds’ other young D prospects.

I was under the impression it was an AHL deal. After all, I didnt think Nashville could sign a CHL player to a 1-year deal. Wouldn't it have to be a 3 year one?

Over on the WHL blog 'Small Thoughts at Large', he covers the unsigned WHL players who need to be signed by June 1st and states that Winnipeg has informed Kendall McFaull that they will not tender him an offer.

Quote:
In the cases of McFaull (6th round, Winnipeg) and Macek (6th round, Detroit), the NHL teams have already announced they will not sign those players and so they will both re-enter the 2012 draft.

Yes, any NHL deal signed by a CHL player will be a three year deal because of the age limits in junior leagues (a player can't be older than 21, so they would never be able to get a one or two year deal).

This is definitely an AHL deal as the original L'Express article stated.

It sounds like John Persson has signed with the Islanders. Nothing from any of the usual sources, but re-tweeted by the Red Deer Rebels.

Wonder if Columbus could at least get a 6th or 7th round pick for his negotiation rights. Phoenix got a 5th rounder for Jared Staal's (2nd rounder in 2008) rights in 2010. Islanders got a 6th rounder for Jyri Niemi (3rd rounder in 2008).

He had a solid run with the Sound Tigers to end the season. Glad he's signed.

Persson is a real sleeper pick in my eye. Can't wait to see a full AHL season with him!

He'll stay in Sweden, while Klas Dahlbeck, who also signed today, will come over.

Did the Hawks sign Dahlbeck? Haven't seen that anywhere.
