Why trade hammer?

Now that we signed Johnny o,a lot of people on different boards expects hammer to be traded.if we're going to trade anybody we should trade leddy.the only thing he does well is rushing the puck out of the d zone.he doesn't hit, can't clear in front of the net.and don't tell me that he's only 21.what you see is what you get.will he take the bigger man out one day,hit people.no,no he won,t .not his style and it won't change when he gets older.trade him.

You will get killed, but you are correct. Leddy is redundant on this team and his value will be viewed a lot higher by other teams than on ours. I would love to use him as a centerpiece to get a legit number 2 center. Would Montreal be interested?

Players don't get stronger and better defensively with age and experience. D Men are finished products at 21. Right.

Do you remember Duncan Keith 2005-2006 at all?

Hammer is a trade option only if we can get an upgrade at 2C or goaltending. Or to make room for Suter.

The only reason Hammer is even considered is because as of 6 hours ago the hawks just committed 3 years $3.35 mill to Johnny ****ing Oduya and it would be a PR nightmare to trade him after signing him to a brand new contract

Knowing Bowman he prolly gave Oduya a NMC so he would take "lower" pay.

I wouldn't be opposed to trading Leddy.
Add Kruger and we should be able to get a decent 2nd line C.

I'd hope we would get a decent number 1 center for Leddy

Yes because that Toews guy is really not working out as a #1 center.

Would there be any possibility of Hjalmarsson be traded to Toronto? What would the possible return need to be?

Hammer is only 24 and everyone has already thrown him in the trash.

1. Leddy will not go nor should he...
2. Leddy is part of our team going forward and that is a good thing
3. people want Hjammer gone because they want Suter or Parise
4. I hope our D will be what we now have. Don't trade anybody

5. there were rumors that Bowman isn't that high on Nik any more...

The only #1 center you're going to get for Leddy is one from the AHL.

I agree that he is not very physical but "hit people.no"? he does hit sometimes, open ice hit mostly....pretty hard to.

So he could devloped a more physical style since he has grit and size.

Hjammer is young and has much hockey left
Leddy just started his pro career and finished his 2nd pro season

Really guys, some of you should have never had the experience of winning the Cup and having a team like we had. Some totally lost all reality

PErsonally, I dont want hammer traded. I'm hoping instead bowman dumps Frolik on draft day for a pick or 2 and buying out Olesz or trading him. He did have a great year in the AHL

As for Leddy leaving he's 21, he WILL get better. How the hell do you think Duncan Keith and Brent Seabrook became so good? They weren't just thrown to us like that. Besides Bowman has reiterated many times Leddy is apart of our future now.

I don't understand why we'd trade him, unless we're going to make a huge splash for Suter or Parise (which is doubtful). Cap hit is a reasonable $3.5M for this year and next, then he is a UFA. Plus, if we lose him, then we really only have Seabs who is willing to block a shot.

Because he's been our 3rd best defenseman since the 2009-10 season

Probably because he let Niemi walk in order to match the offer sheet from SJ given to Hjammer...since then Hjammer hasn't really played up to his contract and made Stan look like a dope for keeping him over Niemi, which even looks like a worse move now after Crawford's performance this season.

I really don't like Leddy's play and the role he's put in. He's mainly there cuz he's the only accomplishment Stan Bowman has.

With that being said, trading him would be a mistake. You don't trade d-men at such young age with the upside he has. He would be perfect as a #5-#6 d-man but he's being forced to play as #3-#4.

Instead of management trying to get a 2nd pairing d-man all what they're doing is bringing more and more people for the bottom pairing. And what's worse is that they are signing them for $3m+.

Don't blame Leddy. It'd be a huge mistake to trade him at such young age. Blame stupid management for the position that they're putting him in.

I like Leddy some games his skating looks like a # 1. In 2-3 years we may see a lot of Keith in Leddy for a discount price.

Erase the brutal OT pinch and some moments when he was overused as a 21 year old and he is a great piece.

Leddy is already close to Campbell offensively and skating wise and he makes 6 mill less. With time he will mature into a similar player with Keith as his mentor

Our future:for 4-5 years
Saad/Kane/Toews/Hossa/Sharp/McNeil(hope)

Keith/Seabrook/Leddy(Olsen?)
