Well obviously all the Slovaks in the KHL in 2011/12 are good and in demand, so why would Slovan try to compete to snatch them if the KHL clubs already have so much interest in them.

The point of an expansion is that new players start to play in the KHL. Slovan has a decent core already and they have extensive scouting an experience in the Extraliga and I heard there were rumors of some Kosice players joining. Either way Slovan should target UFA's from Slovak & Czech Extraliga, SM-Liiga, SEL, NLA(lol maybe), and not compete with KHL clubs for established players

And like I said, you can find some good gems for cheap in the AHL like http://eliteprospects.com/player.php?player=11620

How about http://eliteprospects.com/player.php?player=12063, or http://eliteprospects.com/player.php?player=17839? Or Whitney or Zharkov from the Devils?
Obiously theres no point to play cash games for Petruzalek or Hossa

I'll hang myself the day I see Palffy in Slovan uniform.

Slovan unsurprisingly raided the Slovak prospects in the KHL draft. They picked up.

Marko Dano
Martin Reway
Dominik Rehak
Matej Paulovic
Patrik Koys

Well, that´s 5 16-17 olds who either already are mostly playing somewhere abroad or are planning to in the near future. Also even if they were available, they can´t even be sure that by the time they´re ready for the KHL considering their age, Slovan will still be in the league. Seems really pointless, why not just pick older players who are actually interested in playing in Slovakia and might actually be interested to play for Slovan in the near future.

I (as a fan of Slovan) was thinking actually the same thing. We could rather pick Bortňák or Majdán who are eligible as well (at least I think so). If they make breakthrough in near future we wouldn't need to fight for them with Lev or someone else.

I think it's not totally bad strategy. They picked basically the best Slovak prospects on the board. Some of them won't make NHL (it never happens that 100% is successful). They keep their rights until some age higher than recent one (right?), so they can land them when they return from NA or something like that if I'm not mistaken.

Is there any rule about how many U20 players should be on game roster?

i think this rule only implies Russian team and is implemented by Russian Hockey Federation. So it's whatever you want (your federation wants) for foreign teams

Hmm. I thought there is something like that because Lev usually had Novotný, Sekáč or Jank on roster.

even if I count these 2, I still think Poprad last year had better team than Slovan so far.

Slovan is not done yet but I agree. But in this team there is lot of young talent as Kytnár, Bližňák, Hudáček, Štajnoch, Bakoš (or maybe Luža and Daňo). So there is some potential for progress.

Are there any indicators to what Lev's budget were last season?
