i think they've gotten a lot of negative feedback from their season ticket holders on reg season pricing and this years playoff pricing. hopefully that holds some weight with them. (doubt it.)

If you want lower prices, go across the hudson. I see club seats for game 1 on SH (<$400) that's less than the cheapest seat in what our game 1 would've been. There is zero chance the markup will be less next season for the playoffs.

my seats went up from $39 to $50 so just basing it on this years playoff tickets and the percentage increases next years playoffs tickets could be around the following (first numbers was this past season playoff prices)

R1 $75- $96
R2 $95- $122
R3 $115- $147
R4 $190- $244

Which is ridiculous. They already saw the secondary market almost bottom out below STH face for some of the earlier games of rounds 1 and 2. I keep saying it but they can't keep raising the prices every single year.

If we pay it they will! The only way it will stop is if they didn,t sell all the tickets. Next year should be interesting especially if enough fans in the upper bowl didn,t renew. The lower bowl is almost exclusively corporate seats and with the team having sucess they should sell anyway.

Getting to the breaking point of that though. People will pay right now because the team is winning and they can resell nicely to make up for the overpriced tickets. If this team goes back to being a fringe team or out of the playoffs, people will be fleeing for the exits.

Well it seems unlikely that the team will be a fringe team for the next several years at least...so they'll milk it for all they can.

My thinking is: That the Rangers will finish the summer with more sth holders than they have had for awhile. Wasn't everyone incensed
by the price they had to pay to buy PO tickets? I assume more fans will get together and split tickets in order to insure their post season tickets at face.

The secondary market isn't close to bottoming out. I sold some games for the playoffs and the least I sold them for was double face. Some I sold for 3x face. I sit in the 300s. Any decent seat in MSG is a worthwhile investment.

There wasn't a huge market for the game 1s of the 2nd and 3rd rounds because of the short turn around...and perhaps the fact that they were on not so great nights...and probably also because a lot of people just blew their wads on the previous game 7s. But other than that there was a very good demand.

I didn't see pricing below STH price for ANY games of the play-offs. Maybe the more expensive seats, but certainly not the 300s or 400s. I can see them dropping the lower levels, but definitely not the upper deck.

Some of these seats will be made into suites etc., The new W/B section and what MSG did was relocate the most junior tenured STH,s to different locations and apparently many of them did not renew hoping that MSG would accomodate them and place them back in the cheaper price bracket. I have been told after several conversations with 2 reps that someone who has existing seats and renewed will have preference if any upper level seats open up over a 20 year STH who did not renew. So basically if last year was your first year as a STH and you renewed you will jump over a long tenured STH who didn,t renew because he was unhappy with his new seat selection. They will still go ahead of someone who is just getting tickets this year for the first time but have lost all seniority because MSG considers it as though you didn,t renew and are starting out new.

If I understand correctly what you are saying, they gave the remaining 400's to the most senior current 400s holders? For me & the 2 other STH near me who were all moved out, 2 of us have over 30 years tenure, the other 20. I can't imagine we were that far down the tenure list that we didn't remain under your scenario.

This upcoming season will be my 3rd year with ST and last year I was in the 400s and I'm basically in the same exact spot ($50 level)

The new seat assignments were based on location (i.e., your current seats relative to the new upper bowl) not tenure.

Disagree, it may or it may not be. You have to be able to come out on top of your resales for that to be true, so it's all about your location, price, and relative value. Next year prices are going way up for the upper bowl. That means more people reselling to make ends meet, which means more competition for you, and on top of higher prices will make it a lot more difficult to get back face on average.

The playoffs are not guaranteed, this year was very good. Next they may not get as far or make the playoffs at all. I'm pretty sure they will, but you never know what could happen.

But my seats are in a part of the 400's that are not being demolished, under the West Balcony, so I shouldn't have been moved at all. What I'm wondering is whether I got bumped by somebody from down below, or from elsewhere, or if maybe they are keeping the 400's empty for public sale or another reason.

Games 1 and 2 were tough sells, especially in the Ottawa and Washington series when the games got closer. Most still went over face but there were definitely some that hit the $95 of 2nd round face value and some even under for game 1 against the Caps.

Where were you moved to? Seems like everyone was moved to the spot they should be except those on the edges of the 400's where the Balcony ends (409-410, 418-419). Many on the fringe were moved to the Balcony.

You're good for 2012-13. After that is anybody's guess how crappy the view will become

You shouldn't be bumped then - given your tenure. You have a legitimate complaint. I know for a fact that everyone is mapped based on their current location and view. Only exceptions are in the current 300s - row A got mapped to row 2, B to 3 and so forth. That's due to the more expensive Gallery seats in the first 2 rows.

That was part of a Blueshirts United promotion, just like the free NJ Transit tickets to the Rock for Games 4 and 6. I dont think it had anything to do with availability of last minute tickets. Pretty much every game I was at had a day of sales window that was turning people down saying the game was completely sold out.
