Cap space is apparently not a problem in some folks opinions here
Neither are resignings of FAs 2013 to 2015...
On the other hand - keeping the status quo is not gonna bring a Cup to Broadway
What to do?

Re-signing/Keeping Artem Anisimov, Brandon Dubinsky, etc should not stop you from getting Rick Nash/Zach Parise/Jarome Iginla, etc.

Why does anyone want Anisimov or Dubinsky? They both suck.

True dat
I never mentioned names
Say that Miller, Fast, Erixon, McIllraith and one of Yogan|Thomas|Lindberg can make the team within the next 2-3 years on their ELCs. Then we hopefully are able to replace some of our "ordinary guys" with cheap homegrown talent and then also add some real talent to upgrade the lineup as a whole. Or use a few of the aforementioned guys for replacements of ready players and deal a player or two of our regulars for prospects or picks
It can be done
Question is how and if it will be done???

Theoretically, would anyone trade Stepan/Hagelin (one of them), Del Zotto, Dubinsky, and a draft pick for Bobby Ryan?

This.. It seems people still think just getting an average goal scorer (someone like David Jones), will cure the offensive problems. That's not the case. We need someone other than Gaborik who is an offensive threat to put the puck into the net.

eh, probably not.

i dont want to get rid of 3 roster players this season for 1.

Take out MDZ or Stepan and insert a good prospect of your choice not named Kreider, and yes, i do that.

The Rangers were offering a massive package for Nash (and his contract) at the deadline last season. I dont think they are too worried about adding another high dollar contract. I expect them to make a strong push for Parise first since he wouldn't cost any assets.

I just think it'd take that kind of package. Ryan would replace Stepan, I think Erixon could step into Del Zotto's spot, and than Dubinsky is not too much of a loss to get someone like a Bobby Ryan. I see what you mean though about trading 3 roster spots for 1. However, if we did that move, than Dubinsky+Del Zotto + Stepan/Hags would almost wash out Ryan's 5.5M hit, and allow the Rangers to make other moves.

MDZ sucked last year too, fools wanted him gone as well. Prior to that, the same fools wanted Girardi gone. This summer, we have the same breed who've given up on AA and Dubi.

I think the difference here is that nobody wants AA and Dubi to be GONE. what we want is to upgrade the team and understand that those are the chips that are the most easily traded.

I like Dubi as a player a LOT. I think he's a lot closer to the player he was 2 years ago than the one he was last year. The guy who led our team in scoring, not the guy who was a complete non-factor in about 75 games this season.

Trying to think outside the box a little bit, but I wonder if someone like David Booth would be available from Vancouver. He didn't mesh too well with Kesler which was the reason they brought him in.

I am all about a Ryan Clowe dealio, he would help a Richards , Gabby line big time

Also would not mind seeing if Dallas would move Ericksson since he worked magic with Richards in the past.

Dubi and AA are the trade chips in my mind. If they can sign Parise then keep AA and move Dubi for cap space/picks, prospects.

If they strike out on the trade market then just keep Dubi

Everyone sucks!

They are good players and would be absolutely awesome as the 3rd line. We use guys in places they shouldn't be used.

I think some folks have a 12 month memory. Dubi was our leading scorer literally the year before this one.

You keep Dubi unless some better opportunity comes along. You keep Anisimov no matter what.

IDK about Dubinsky. I'd look to move him, but then again I've never really liked him.

Ryane Clowe is a very realistic target I think, in terms of what we'd have to give up, but if you want Eriksson were talking about trading everyone including the beer vendors.

i really like that idea but not sure he is available or what it would cost but seems like a much more realistic option then some of the other fantasy ideas.

I love Dubinsky, but i'm hoping he gets his scoring back because for the amount of money he's getting paid, you'd expect him to be getting 50-60 points. This year was bad for him so it's understandable that people want him gone. There is also a chance he'll get his touch back, in which case, keeping him is fine and dandy to me.

Might just be smoke, but I wonder if Kesler really might become available. Perfect fit for this team imo, might be able to sell the Canucks on Dubi (and obviously more).

We'd probably have to send a center the other way..

my thought is SJ would be open to making a move given there descent in the standings. You are right Eriksson likely a long shot as Dallas should keep him
