Happy to see Michael Chaput win it, he was a fan favorite in Lewiston. I can't forget Kabanov and Morin though! Really impressive to see Shawinigan win it, especially the way they did.

The McGill Redmen and the Trois-Rivières Patriotes, as well as a team of Cataractes alumni.

Congrats to Peter Sakaris and the rest of Shawinigan. Got to see Sakaris play 1.5 years in Cedar Rapids (USHL)

Sakaris is American ? Also he's rumored to be Blainville-Bound next year.. Along with your boy Matteau lol just kidding I know your not a fan of him.

And Shawi earned it, kudos to them.

That was a fantastic game by both teams. I had to watch the replay a couple of times to see Zlobin's shot.

So, is it too late to jump on the Cataractes bandwagon for next year? I don't have a CHL team to root for yet.

If only US Juniors could get such coverage and crowds. My local NAHL team gets about 20 percent of Shawinigan's once football season is over.

I really like Sakaris but he didn't play well in the second half of the season and in the playoffs. In my opinion he played better at the Memorial Cup but not enough in the eyes of coach Éric Veilleux. I know he wasn't in great terms with his coach this season. Nonetheless he's a better player than what we saw from him this season. He will be a great asset for Shawinigan in 2012-2013 if he stays here or he'll be great anywhere else.

We are always welcoming good fans in our team! But next year will be tougher than this year since we enter a new cycle after our big year.

tougher?

lol the next two years will be totally painful for you guys.

there is nothing left in Shawi. You probably won't make the playoffs next year.

Sakaris is not American but his original plan was to go the NCAA route. I heard he couldn't make entrance requirements so he went to the Q.

I really liked the way he played in Cedar Rapids. He played with grit and would drop the gloves to stick up for teammates.

here is an article about him leaving the Roughriders:

agreed.

it would have been a disaster for the franchise if they wouldn't win after their disastrous post-season performances.

Wow this is huge for them, I remember an early season convo I had with MA-Dumont(Foreurs) and he talked about how Val D'Or wasnt very old but had won the Q where a team like Shawi had and was way older.

IIRC Val'Dor has not won a MemCup, and Shawi hasn't won the Q..

I'm a Blues fan. We're used to year after year of crushing disappointment.

Greetings from England
Really impressive tournament, with some great prospects.
Was able to download the games, and loved the action.
Would love to know more about the QMJHL, I had no idea that Anton Zloban was so deadly.
What is his game like..obviuolsy he can shoot...wow!

Really enjoyed the whole Memorial Cup...and Anton has just rocketed up amongst my favourite CHL Euros

That's why it feels so great to win the Memorial Cup after all these years for us Shawinigan Cataractes fans!

Im happy for them . Especially as the underdog and host of the tournament. Im from Moncton and we were the favourite in 2005-2006 but lost to Quebec in the final game. The same Quebec whom we beat to capture the Presidents Cup a couple of weeks earlier. It was devastating as the host so I can only imagine winning the cup in your home rink as host!
