Devils to Host American Hockey League Event
Albany vs. Bridgeport Set for January 22
East Rutherford, NJ – The Albany River Rats – the top development team of the New Jersey Devils – will face off against the Bridgeport Sound Tigers – the top development club of the NY Islanders – on Thursday, January 22, 2004 at 7:00 PM, in the first-ever regular-season American Hockey League game at the Continental Airlines Arena.
All tickets for this event are set at $10.00, and will go on sale next Tuesday, December 2, 2003 at newjerseydevils.com, the Continental Airlines Arena box office, Ticketmaster, and Ticketmaster charge-by-phone. The Albany River Rats have served the New Jersey Devils as its affiliate since 1993-94. Current Devils who have played in the AHL include goaltenders Martin Brodeur, Scott Clemmensen, and Corey Schwab; defensemen Tommy Albelin, and Colin White; and forwards Christian Berglund, Sergei Brylin, Patrik Elias, Brian Gionta, John Madden, Grant Marshall, Jay Pandolfo, Erik Rasmussen, Mike Rupp, and Turner Stevenson. The AHL has maintained affiliations with National Hockey League teams since 1936, and today, all 30 NHL clubs use the AHL as their primary development source.
