2010 Second Round Phil Lane Signs With Coyotes

Quote:
Lane signed a standard three-year entry-level contract with the Phoenix Coyotes and he’ll likely start the 2012-13 season with the American Hockey League’s Portland Pirates.

Do they see something we all don't?

Are we close to our 50 contract limit?

Maybe a sign they're considering letting the likes of MacLean go.

Nowhere near it with the expiring contracts on some of the vets in Portland. It will be interesting to see what kind of mix they decide to put together for the farm.

The team does have a precedent for returning an overager to junior (Weller) but I wouldn't put the odds at any better than even that he'll return to junior.

certainly adding some size to our forward group. Lane can play effectively on the PK as well. His offensive game is inconsistent though at the very least. Hopefully he can develop.

Lane's contract. Seems a little rich when you factor in the signing bonus in combination with the AHL salary but I suppose that's the going rate.
