You can also go to Philly via train from Penn Station for less than Amtrak by taking New Jersey Transit to Trenton and transfering to a SEPTA line to Philly. SEPTA will take you to Center City, and from there it's an easy walk to the Broad Street line that takes you right to the sports complex (if you are interested in taking a trip to WFC for a game). As for BKYN, as was pointed out the Barclays Center is opening and is right on a subway hub so it's easy to get to. If you come early in the basketball season you might have to pay more on the secondary market for Nets tixs because of the novelty but if the team stinks as expected you probably will be able to get them cheap. Hope that Helps!
Thanks guys for the help, Manhattan, Brooklyn, Philly and Jersey look like they're set in stone for now then, maybe Washington too.

What's the turn out for Giants games like? I see they're playing the Saints when I'm around, could I get cheap tickets in the bleachers? Would love to check out as many (cheap ) sporting events as I can, I love my gridion and hockey.

Manhattan Sports Bars

Hi all, LA fan in the city for the Finals here.

I was planning on going down to Newark for the game tonight but think I had my fill of Jersey on Wednesday. I'm looking for a kick ass sports bar to watch the game tonight. A real hockey bar that will be packed with Ranger fans cheering for the Devils to get their ***** kicked. A place where the telecast takes precedence over regurgitated music. A place where Every which way I turn the game will be on a giant TV.

I have to imagine such a place exists in your awesome city, I just need to be pointed in the right direction!

Still pissed I'm not watching this game at MSG! Thanks for the help.

"The Flying Puck" is a great place to watch the game. It's near MSG, although I'm not sure exactly where

Hmmmmm. Now that the Rangers aren't in it, you might not be able to find a place full of Ranger fans rooting against the Devils. My best guess would be the Flying Puck. It's on the corner of 7th and 30th. It's a hockey first kind of bar, as you can tell by the name. It'll have the game on and there'll be plenty of fans watching on a Saturday night.

Thanks for the help. I know it won't be the same as if the Rangers were in it, but I figure there are many like myself who are crazed hockey fans and would be going out to watch the finals with other hockey fans regardless of whose playing. Since you guys hate the Devils, I guess I'm also banking on circuitous rooting for the Kings

Going to see my family on Long Island the weekend after the 4th of July. I will be spending the day in Manhattan on Friday, July 6th.

I've never been to MSG before and was wondering if there is anything that fans can do at MSG during the offseason? Team shop? Tours? Etc..

Any info is appreciated! Thanks!

The most you'll be able to do is visit the box office and outside merchandise shops. They usually have tours/events during the summer, but like mentioned above the whole arena is in renovation phase now.

i dont believe that is even possible. if everything is like it was last year, the entire lobby/ box office area is shut down

Yup, passed by a couple of weeks ago and they have the lobby closed off with the temporary box office set up right above the steps near the north club entry.

This is totally about New York:

Have any of my fellow New Yorkers been getting mosquitoes already? I don't remember them coming this early, but something has to be biting me...

(good thing im leaving in 3 days)

A couple of weeks ago I was at the East River Park and was attacked. I had about 20 bites on my left leg.

Mosquitoes have always been coming this early. They also reproduce faster when there's puddles outside since that's where they are born. Since it rained not too long ago, that's probably the cause.

Open containers are not allowed anywhere in public. Technically they can summons you if you are sitting on your stoop and drinking a beer.

I'm pretty sure you can drink on the boardwalk. Use your best judgment.

I'll be leaving for NYC early saturday morning. The city kicks ass, I've wanted to come back since I got home from a school trip in 2009. Before I start, a few of us are under 21.

One question I have is where to watch Italy/England sunday. Is there somewhere that stands out in Little Italy (I'm Italian and want to be with the home crowd )? I also plan on going there to try Lombardi's...

As for shopping, I hear good things about Uniqlo. Opinions? We'll be heading to the Woodbury outlets afterwards as well, though given that I rarely get to go to NYC I'd like to check this place out (I hear it's unique to NYC or at least doesn't have that many stores elsewhere).

That's about it for specifics. If anyone has any general tips I'm all ears. I've visited most interesting places (seen a broadway show, top of the rock, museum of natural history, central park...), and since we'll be leaving monday I just want to get as much done and have as much fun as possible.

Much appreciated.

Might not want to do it tomorrow because of this disgusting heat wave, but walk the Brooklyn Bridge over into BK and eat at Grimaldi's (better than Lombardi's IMO) or the Ice creme place there. Then hang out in the Park there and enjoy the beautiful view of the city. DUMBO really is quite nice.

You won't get Giants tickets for cheap. The cheapest face value ticket is $85, and for that game you are going to be looking at $125-150 and up on stubhub. Of course, if you go to the stadium that day, you might be able to find cheap singles walking around the parking lot. You can always find a few people with one extra ticket.

The parking lot for Giants and Jets games opens 5 hours prior to game time. The guys with whom I tailgate are there waiting for the gates to open. I usually get there 3 to 4 hours early and by 2 1/2 hours before gametime they start closing off lots.

Woodbury Commons is up near West Point, a bit of a treck from the city. As far as little italy, it is a very small area. I imagine if you just walk around you will be able to find places showing the game. Same for pretty much any bar in the city.

I'm not there tomorrow, hopefully it gets better over the weekend. Thanks for the ideas.

We're taking a bus there when we leave, so it's all good. And noted, didn't realize it'd be that easy.

Thanks guys!
