Seriously, I love how Columbus consistently gets nobody useful in these threads. Every Single Time. Either we get listed for folks who wouldn't have anyplace to play here because "well they suck they need everybody" or - more commonly - we're not listed at all as a contender for any free agents whatsoever, as though we don't exist and never existed. It never ceases to amuse me, and it consistently reinforces my opinion of folks here w/r/t the Jackets - that y'all don't know **** about us, barely have Clue #1, and have no business telling us about our own players and our own needs.

Second of all, how is Carle useless? I'd love to have him in Edmonton.

This cup run did give us a few extra mill that we didn't have. That and the ownership situation is settled basically according to Bettman. Won't be an issue.

Why is Toronto taking Brad Boyes back? No reason to suggest him to Toronto, we don't need what he offers.

We really don't. And this cup run just gave us a few extra million, no?

Marty said he'll be back but Marty wasn't why we made it this far. Most of this run if you were watching we won in spite of him. Plenty of back breaking goals honestly. He's not the Marty of 03.

We'll be talking about the worst contract ever. He's a 30-40 goal scorer. His intangibles aren't worth an extra 4 million dollars. they're just not. I see us throwing him a cap hit equal or slightly about Kovy's over 10 years. 6.666-7 mm/year is more than fair.

I'm too lazy to do all the players, so I'll only do ones that might sign in Winnipeg:

Jordin Tootoo
Paul Gaustad
Taylor Pyatt
Dennis Wideman

Well then, that pretty much settles that. On to Semin. Also, not quite sure you want to bet on making Cup runs in order to make your payroll every year.

Sad as it is, you sure as hell better believe it's a factor. I doubt she'd want to just uproot to Detroit just because.

One cup run is enough. The arena probably pulls in upwards of 8 million a game during the cup in ticket sales alone. Last night was their 9th game at home of the playoffs.

8 Million a game? So people in NJ are paying $500 face value on tickets?

A team is lucky to bank a million on a playoff game after expenses, shared revenue, etc. The Devils have a very interesting dilemma with Parise. You obviously dont want to lose him but having roughly the same money to spend as Detroit and having to sign 10 players rather than a couple like Detroit, it's going to be tough on them. Im just not sure the Devils can keep him as things currently stand. Now, they find someone to take Elias' and Zidlicky's contracts, they'd be in a better spot but then they'd only have 11 players under contract.

I think they'll try and keep him but it's going to be difficult long term. Either way I say it's New Jersey or Detroit and I'd be surprised if another team was to land him.

Um, let's check that math - your arena is capacity at 17,625, which equals an average of $450+ per ticket. Maybe, MAYBE the team gets that for high-end tickets in the Cup finals, but certainly not every home game rounds 1-3. Stubhub has Game 2 tickets for as low as $180, and Stubhub is where you go to get worked over because you can't get tickets any other way.

Also, not sure the teams get all the gate revenue for playoffs, Cup - might just be all concessions. I read an article years back that the Wings made profit of $1mm per home game in a long run years, and that was mostly food and booze profits. But, admittedly, I am not sure on that.

It matters in the sense of what people here think of Columbus, which influences how they respond when we come up in these discussions. When folks start making crazy assumptions about us and our situation, I can look back at these sorts of threads and think "yeah, it's okay to be a total ***** about this stuff again, they still don't know ****".

He's not useless and I didn't say he was. But in Columbus, where we have JMFJ, Wisniewski, Tyutin, and (presumably eventually) Nikitin all in the top four, Methot as depth, and Moore and Savard waiting in the wings, there's noplace for him to play. There's little appreciation for the fact that we essentially completely rebuilt our blueline over the course of the season.

The Wild will try for the players in this order:

1A) Suter: Offer 8 yrs/$56m
1B) Parise: Offer 8/$64m
2) Langenbrunner (leadership piece)
Boyes: I don't see it with all of the young players and the fact Lats and Bouchard are healthy.

I think your correct on Suter coming here especially if the Wild are competitive money wise. Parise I say no because of the pressure of playing in front of his hometown.

Maybe he was part of the problem. Based on recent trades, the Avs' brass seems to do a good job of ferreting out and removing problem children.
