I'd just like to point out the difference between our first and Columbus' 2nd will likely be 2 spots when New Jersey forfeits their pick.

Pierre McGuire was on with Francesa yesterday. The Rangers are on their way to be a very good team for a long time. He doesn't think the Rangers need to do much. Their system works. Their system can score. They need better health. Better luck too. He said Boyle was hurt. Richards and Gaborik were both hurt.

Their system can score? Score what? Chicks?

The devils 4th line of Gionta, Bernier, and Carter were more of a consistent offensive threat than any of our lines. Thats a glaring issue, and quite frankly, puck possession and creating scoring chances has been our major weakness since the Straka-Nylander-Jagr days, and even then that was a one line team. It was the Jagr line and three third lines. We need to address this huge hole in our lineup. Not only do we lack secondary scoring, but our PRIMARYA GOAL SCORER is a guy who is not built for playoff hockey, and is actually the antithesis of this team's hardworking, gritty, fearless identity.

Sell Gaborik for some young valuable assets, preferably a young, big, goal scorer who is built for playoff hockey. But if not, then use the assets acquired in that deal, along with some of our young pieces (DZ, Dubi, Thomas, Miller, and draft picks) to retool our top 6 wings.

Oh please. We were 11th overall in Goals/Game during the regular season. Stop acting as if we're the worst offensive team in the league. If we added 20 more goals to the roster, we would have been in the top-5.

Dude I know you hate Del Zotto, but he isn't going anywhere. The top 4 defensive corps is not getting touched.

The Rangers will either sign shultz for our bottom pair or grab some sort of experienced vet.

Yes, let's trade our primary scorer away for a young, big, goal sco... Oh wait, we have Kreider. Nevermind.

While we're at it, let's trade all the players who underachieved in the Play Offs and not just Gaborik.

Stepan, Anisimov, Callahan, Hagelin, Prust, Rupp, Fedotenko, Mitchell, Bickel, Del Zotto and Stralman.

And let's acquire Selanne, Lidstrom, Jagr, Nash, Parise, Malkin and Semin because, hey. Giving huge contracts for superstars has always worked so well for us.

Would love Staal but giving Pittsburgh Gaborik would be a very regrettable move. He would be a 50+ goal scorer with Crosby or Malkin easily. Would prefer to trade him out west.

The Nash package is solid, would prefer not to trade MDZ though.

McGuire is in studio with Francesa today. He loves Torts. Thinks Kreider will be a star. No Nash. He is not a young guy. Going to cost you a lot. Richards is not a young either. You don't want to have too many older players on long term deals. Its a young mans league. Doesn't think Parise will be a Ranger. Zach won't play for the Rangers because of his ties to the Devils. He said three teams for Parise. Detroit,Pitt and Chicago. McGuire said Schultz is the guy when Mike asked him who the Rangers should pursue. He said Gaborik isn't a Torts type of player but he has played well here. Pierre also said Gaborik may fit better somewhere else. Loves Fasth. Likes Thomas too.

You can't be serious? The Pens wouldn't trade Jordan Staal for Gaborik straight up!

The 2nd proposed deal is much more realistic and I would do that one in a heartbeat but I bet Columbus doesn't bite.

I heard it and even got on with him.
We all know Boyle was injured but I think he is just speculating that Richards and Gaborik were injured because they were invisible.

Time will tell.

Actually, the Pens would most certainly trade Gaborik for Staal. That gives them a top 6 of...

XXXXX-Cindy-Gaborik
Kunitz-Malkin-Neal.

If Cindy produced points with FEDOTENKO, that LW spot could literally be filled by anyone. You don't give your division rival a 40 goal scorer who fits their system better, and would be a sure bet to put up points with Cindy.

REGULAR SEASON PRODUCTION means nothing. We had more goals than the Canucks, are we a better team offensively than them? We have far too many soft, small players who can't cut it in playoff hockey. I'll give the ELC guys like Stepan, Hags, Del Zotto a pass for now but what about Maryanne and Richards?

I agree, we're a great team, there's no need to do anything drastic. And offense in the NHL these days is very balanced and tight. A few more goals here and there can advance you 5 spots in the rankings. A few less can drop you 5. We don't need to go crazy here like "ZOMG MOAR GOLAZ!!!!!" We're picking 28th in the draft for a reason, we're not far away.

Right! The Pens would trade a 24 year old stud who would easily be our #1 center and change the entire landscape here making it very difficult to play against us for an overrated, overpriced regular season compiler who doesn't get his hands dirty, is ****in useless when his time and space disappears and has a history of chronic injuries, this past season withstanding.

You are clueless and have no idea what your talking about!

I'd take Jordan on the Rangers. I'm starting to have concerns about Stepan.

It's one of those rare trades that both teams would benefit from.

On no planet is Jordan Staal a first line center. At best, he is a solid second line center. But the offensive upside of Marian Gaborik on the Pens is insanity.

The Pens play a quick uptempo offense with two outstanding center man. Gabs would be DOMINANT on that team. The Pens are outstanding on the rush.

The Pens would be insane not to make that trade. The Rangers would be idiots to do so.

You call me clueless?

We have a good shot at him. imo.

He wants out of Pittsburgh and wants to play with one of his brothers.

That's why I don't sign Parise. Save that money for next Summer and go after Jordan.
