Respectfully disgree. We all know that he is productive in the regular season but who is really going to remember that when he has been such a pariah in the playoffs thruout his career? Six(6) goals in 25 games as a Ranger and 18 goals in 50+ games in his career + a history of injuries and now age 31.

Yep, I can see why other teams would be jumping for joy and stumbling over each other to get Mr. Softie in their lineup!

Anybody hear Pierre with Francesa? He basically said Parise is a proud devil and he doesn't think he will sign with the Rangers.

Pierre said if he doesn't resign with the Devils he would go to either Detroit, Chicago or Pitt.

Some of you people need to hop off Parise's jock. He isn't coming here. He is going to get much more on the open market from teams who actually need him. We do not need him or the giant contract he is going to want. We need support goal scoring and/or another stable defensemen.

weren't Bobby Holik and Scott Gomez proud Devils? The fact that they don't have to move or they are just moving across the Hudson + the $ (and it's always about the $) indicate being a proud Devil has nothing to do with players signing or not signing in NY

31 goals is good support scoring
we don't need "support" scoring. we need scoring. any type of it as long as we are getting a lot of it. I also wouldn't undersell his playmaking.

How does that help? Are we signing our RFAs and then dumping them in Hartford?

Chicago? why the hell would the Hawks need another offensive talent? How about fixing their horrible D, led by Duncan Kieth becoming a turnover machine this year. Or how about fixing the fact that none of their goalies were good enough for a shutout this year? Yeah, Chicago needs offense. Right. Same for Pittsburgh. They scored plenty of goals in the playoffs. Fleury was a scrub, and their D sucked ass. Detroit, I could see. They've got a ton of cap space. And they need to retool.

We need a bunch of guys who can put up 15-25 goals. We need depth in the bottom 6 not Parise. He will be too expensive and just not worth it. People saying David Jones, Ryan Clowe, Chris Kelly, etc got it right.

zach parise on the pittsburgh penguins would absolutely be a worst case scenario for the Rangers.

Anyone else thinking this is a ploy by Parise? Throwing people off? In any event, if he happens to sign with us, great. If he doesn't sign with us, MSG will have no problem letting him know about it for the rest of his career.

IMO, this was not a smart move by Parise at all. He should have just given a vague answer and said "I haven't really had a chance to worry about that yet. Our season just ended and I'll weigh my options...yada yada yada."

I hope he signs with the highest bidder like Minnesota and just fades into obscurity.

Zach Parise expressed his desire to re-sign with the New Jersey Devils on Wednesday.
"I like the people here," he said. "I like the staff, my teammates. I like the area. There's a lot of good things about this place." The Devils captain also said that if he did become an unrestricted free agent that he wouldn't sign with the New York Rangers, so scratch them off the potential list of suitors.

He doesn't want to come here. Its the Devils or who ever throws the most money his way, (Rangers not in the conversation)

I wouldn't read into that comment to much. Why would he say he wouldn't rule out the Rangers on break up day in front of his teammates? You don't want to talk about your free agency in front of your teammates. It's always going to be be "priority #1 is to stay with team X"

And Scott Gomez about joining the Rangers.

Honestly, what is he going to say? "Yes, I would greatly prefer New York to here"

I may be mistaken but I don't think he said it 2 weeks before free agency started.

And who cares about Parise? We made it to 6 games in the ECF without Parise. We don't need a player like him to put us over the top, we need another 25 goal scorer, a more effective 3rd line, and Dubinsky to return to the way he has played in past years.

Disagree. It sounds like he doesn't want to be here. In a salary cap sport, a bunch of teams can offer Zach what we'd pay him. He has a choice. The Yankees simply outbid everyone for Damon.

edit: and as the user above said, Damon said that months before I believe. For Parise to come out and say it two weeks before free agency, he probably means it.

If he doesn't want to be here, the oh well. Peace, homedog.

That said, I think it's a) a dumb statement for him to make and b) doesn't really mean much at this point. If the Rangers give him the best offer July 1, he'll be a Ranger. I don't believe he will be, but this is just a tactic. Means nothing.
