If Montreal has any intentions of going after Patrick Kane, it's cause they would want a winger for Plekanec. I don't see this working out for either team
I wouldn't do that from the Habs POV. I don't see Kane as a huge upgrade on Plekanec in terms of overall contribution. Not enough of one to justify trading Subban for that upgrade plus the rest of the package, anyway. Subban > Hjalmarsson + McNeill + 1st + upgrade, basically. Pass.

Oh God... It's going to turn into one of those my player is better than yours thread.

I'm thinking it's more of a "I don't value McNeill and a 1st for my team" kinds of threads. They don't add any significant weight to me when measured against the core players I'd be losing. Kane > Plekanec, Subban > Hjalmarsson, and the rest doesn't matter to me.
Well I cant comment on his reasoning but as a Hawk fan who doesn't like Subban here would be my reasons
-Lazy and disintrested at times
-Prone to defensive gaffe's that hurt team
-Takes some real terrible penalties
-Is honestly overated ,, Accomplish something before acting like a star
The bolded apply to Kane as well but at least I konw Kane has history of clutch play and playing key part of a great team
Haven't seen anything from Subban that makes me think "This guy is elite talent" like I have seen from Kane

I respect your opinion but your talking as though averaging close to 40 points in your first two seasons and logging the most minutes out of any dman on one of the worst teams while still being a plus 9 (this year 25+ min a night) plus being .5 ppg in the POs
You can't focus on a players negatives to make the value of the that players value dip...
Subban is a stud at the age of 23 and will only get better especially since he has the physical tools and work ethic... he may not be worth Patty Kane now or ever but it still doesn't diminish his value one bit
Hell i know patrick kane is a huge party animal .. does that mean i wouldn't want him on the habs??? HELL YA I would take that cabbie puncher on our team ANYTIME

That actually plays more into my "Overated" opinion ,, Putting up pts and logging big minutes on an average team isn't that great of an judgement of a player
And for a little comparison Leddy put up nearly the same amount of pts as Subban in a lesser role for Hawks ,, So yeah the pt total Subban put up this year in alot more minutes doesn't really impress me

MTL scored 212 goals while the Hawks scored 248... It would be obvious that Hawks players would put up more points
Anyways it seems i am not convincing you since judging a player on his talents and skillset no longer matter
Subban is overrated your BANG ON!
Was just trying to say that most of your observations are based on YOUR opinion...Subban is one of our hardest working players and the dumb mistakes are getting better... he is a young dman after all they play one of the toughest positions opposed to an offensive winger (it took pat kane almost five years to become a good two way player...) and thats based off one year...this one...

While I disagree, you are well within your rights not to like any player.
As to the OP Chicago would want Plekanec as a 2nd line centre to allow Kane to shift to wing permanently and play on the top line. Also, I feel that Kane, while very talented, has maturing to do, and likely would not be a good fit in Montreal
