Loving the Loose Cannons right now. Full coverage of the Kings. Unlike those ****** at 710. First topic of the day: The Celtics-Heat series. What a ****ing joke!

Is the CBC feed anywhere online? I'd love to check that out.

Also, is it safe to say that both teams might play better on Staples ice when they head here for games 3 and 4? Since we don't have humidity and the temp has been fairly decent, I actually think our ice might be better and that will equal more flow for both teams.

Go Kings Go!
Link to video with bench reactions please?

The CBC guys were VERY complimentary to the Kings for the entire game. Very nice to see!

Martin Brodeur is still searching for the puck on the backhand.
Talk about putting a tender out of his jockstrap? Just filthy dirty.

I've got Gamecenter Live, I don't know where you would be able to find it otherwise.

Edit: Ziggy's got you covered.

Yeah, they were. I generally like Hughson when the Canucks aren't playing.

Sadly, that's probably not going to happen. Kovalchuk has been playing hurt since Game 3 of Round 1.

As a WC fan, I dont know how familiar you are with his game, but you'll probably notice he has absolutely no speed (hasnt since Games 1+2 versus Florida). It's a shame, because speed is his #2 weapon. He's honestly only a factor on the PowerPlay now, because he still has that lethally accurate shot, but frankly, 5x5, he's at this point just an above average player, rather than a superstar.

Is Quick bad at handling the puck? He seemed average last night (i.e. not very good, but not terrible at it either).

He used to be horrible, but he has gotten a little better. I still get nervous whenever he does.

He's pretty bad and it must look even worse when you're used to watching Brodeur do it with such finesse.

I was over on the NJ board, and there is this link to "$9m Bobby Holik's" blog (well, I did add the 9m part):

http://holikonhockey.com/bobby-blog/...-final-game-1/

It is a very objective review of last night's game. I'm impressed with it - pros and cons for both teams.

I am finished with the playoff board. Too many excuses and too much talk of luck.

This has confused me over the years, but is it really Stanley Cup Final or Stanley Cup Finals?

Grammatically, what is the difference?

Didn't the Rangers request Henrik get better as well? Is this a new standard in the league? Just curious.

His issue is he often needlessly goes behind the net to tee a puck up for a defenseman, or to push it along a bit further to someone waiting. It often throws off the recipient's stride/timing/whatever, and sometimes lines them up for a heavy hit. Other times it can go directly to the bad guys. He has lots of near misses, but only a few pantloaders. So he usually gets away with it.

I've seen goalies much worse than Quick. I think the implementation of the Trapezoid kind of killed the puck handling need for goalies. Brodeur is still from a time period when stick skills were a great advantage. Now it's probably last on the list of goalie abilities.

Holik's stuff is always a GREAT read. Real inside-baseball stuff that fans dont often get from commentators, sometimes because they dont know, or simply wont say. Holik has ZERO filter, he says what he thinks, whether you agree or not. He's also on Twitter.

The ridiculousness of the Brodeurezoid still pizzes me off. A goalie that can handle the puck like Marty is a thing of beauty.

Watch during these SCF games and if any King makes a poor dump in, not only will Marty grab it, but he'll immediately look up ice, and he can drill 100 foot long, 1/2 ice passes RIGHT onto a Devils stick. Frankly, that's amazing with a goalie stick, and how that can be "bad for the game", I'll NEVER understand.

I wouldn't know how to provide it since I use NHL gamecenter live, but fortunately the link was provided by Ziggy Stardust, as you prolly know already:

http://www.cbc.ca/video/watch/Sports/ID=2240890517

Now I have watched the final game moments for another 10 times. Can't wait for Saturday, or Sunday in my case.

The idea behind the rule was not to remove this kind of plays from the game. It was meant to give more power to forecheck and put more pressure on the D to get the puck out of their zone. On paper it makes sense, but it has obvious disadvantages.

The above was the stated reason. The real "idea behind the rule" was that 28 out of 30 GMs didnt have goalies that could handle the puck and use it as a weapon. GMs were SICK of being beaten like this, and imposed a rule that removed a legitimate hockey skill from the game. Sickening.

Same thing with goalie equipment now.

Everyone knows that goalie equipment is too large, and is designed to block the puck, rather than protect the goalie (which is in direct violation of the NHL rulebook). But the "problem" wasnt addressed in time, and now about 1/2 the goalies in the NHL are giant "goaliebeasts", so you cant get the GM votes to fix this issue. If you're the GM of Lundqvist, Miller, Luongo, Giggy, etc.... are you going to seriously want to correct the goalie equipment farce? Nope.....
