3rd line players don't score 30 goals (well, close enough in Cally's case)
He's a 2nd line player through and through at this point, he just needs to stay healthy

You want to distribute the talent.
Like currently we have 1 50 pointish guy on the top line (hags) + two 70+ point guys in Richards & Gabby,
Our 2nd line however, has 3 guys who will put between 40 and 60 points. Adding a "1st liner" there would help getting all three lines to produce...
Semin would be a locker room cancer. Doesn't play our style at ALL.
Our style can be taught. Torts said as much in a recent exit interview earlier this week. He said that we could work with players that can offer us something we dont currently have and help bring them up to speed in our system. He said we can't "box ourselves in".
I read that to mean that he is open to working with offensively talented players. I think we play our style more so because of the lack of scoring talent on the team.
Semin may not be my first choice, but he's a true 30+ goal scorer
and we don't have too many of those. If other options fail, I'd feel alot better with Semin joining our roster than David Jones.

You play whoever has chemistry. If our second line is going to include Krieder and Stepan. Then Callahan does not mix on that line. If you want to replace Stepan with someone else, fine.
But my guess is that Stepan and Krieder are going to be joined at the hip in hopes that both will graduate to first line duties someday. Callahan is the odd man out on that line. Cally does not mix well with creative offensive players.

Also, we took a risk with Gaborik. We might as well take a risk with Semin. There's not a lot of risk anyway.
Semin will go to a team that is not so demanding defensively for forwards. Hunter was Torts essentially and I don't think Semin wants to go back to that, he was constantly in the dog house.
If he's open to it though, a 1 year deal at 3 mill seems reasonable to me, that's what we gave to Frolov a few years ago.
Aside from his wrist shot what else does he pose offensively?
This is a non-issue anyways. But I don't want this guy anywhere near this team.

People thought that about Gaborik too... Not saying Semin is the answer or should even be looked at, just saying people surprise you when you give them a chance.

He's been doing interviews all season. He's been a lot more accessible this season than he had been in the past.
Gaborik didn't score in the playoffs. Which made him pretty useless. Want to switch him for Nash and see if that's any better? What if it's not?
my bad i was calling out the people who attack gaborik (a 40+ goal scorer who has 100+ goals in his last 3 years) and then call for sather to sign semin (a skilled but notoriously lazy player).
my problem with nash is his contract is more than gabys and could very well hurt us. the guy hasnt hit 40 goals in a while (given he has played with ****). the only thing that makes it a good deal and worth the contract and gaby+ is if he nets 40 goals in regular season and is con smythe caliber in the playoffs. i honestly believe that richie and nash would have natural chemistry.
