Watching the CBC replay on NHL Network right now. Just crazy hearing Grapes give the Kings so much props. The CBC team is all on the Kings jock. So much better than the CRAP on NBC/NHL Network.
Is this real? I swear I'm in Bizzaro world or Ive died and Im somewhere between heaven and purgatory.

Kings win the "CBC Bias battle" this year in a landslide.
Cherry will (very) predictably be the worst in that regard as usual.
The ridiculousness of the Brodeurezoid still pizzes me off. A goalie that can handle the puck like Marty is a thing of beauty.
Watch during these SCF games and if any King makes a poor dump in, not only will Marty grab it, but he'll immediately look up ice, and he can drill 100 foot long, 1/2 ice passes RIGHT onto a Devils stick. Frankly, that's amazing with a goalie stick, and how that can be "bad for the game", I'll NEVER understand.
I agree 100%. I also believe once Roy caught wind of the Trapizoids, he expedited his retirement also. He in Colorado and Marty Turco in Dallas were just BRUTAL on us with their outlet passes from the corners.

I definitely understand you. The problem is that goalies are so protected from attack, that they are near invincible if they have the puck. Even if you could do something legal to steal the puck from them, his teammates would probably fight you for doing it. Just doesn't make for good hockey.
But watching Brodeur make those long bomb passes or stick handle is a thing of beauty. So sad it's been reduced so dramatically.

On an annual basis, the number of Canadians on the Stanley Cup winning team is extremely high. Last year, of the 21 Bruins who played in the final, 16 were Canadian. The Blackhawks the year prior were about 75% Canuck. The Ducks, a few years back, were close to 80%.
Canadian hockey fans take a lot of pride in that. I am also rooting for the Kings for that reason.
"Often times seemingly solid performances from a team's depth line in a Stanley Cup Final can be the anxiously awaited chance for blowhards across the hockey landscape to use words like "gritty". Just about every time you hear this kind of stuff there should be smoke wafting out of the back of your ******** detector. Last night, was the exception. There are not enough T's in gritty to describe it. The Kings 4th line won the shot attempts battle with a game high 78% rating.
The Devils' top six had a real rough go of it. Kovalchuk was ineffective at driving the play along with linemates Adam Henrique and Alexei Ponikarovsky. Zajac and Parise didn't fare much better. Look for Peter DeBoer to mix up lines for Game 2.
Drew Doughty is a machine. That long, purple bar reading "72%" over "D1" on the chart above is a big middle finger to those complaining about his contract and alleged subpar performance all regular season long.
The only line that finished with a positive rating for the Devil's was the Gionta line. They had a similarly gritty performance that went largely unnoticed. They spent a lot of their time against the Kings' top line as well as the bottom 6.
Salvador/ Zidlicky had a horrible breakdown on the game losing goal to go along with some pretty bad numbers. They led all Devils' defensive pairings in even strength ice time and drew the shutdown role against the Kopitar line. Let's (see if DeBoer) eases back Salvador/Zidlicky's minutes against them and hands some more time over to Greene/Fayne who hwere slightly more effective.
We wondered what the possession results would be after uncovering that both teams were pretty even in that regard through the first three rounds of the payoffs. The Kings drew first blood, winning the battle last night 58% to 42%."

I missed the game. How did Doughty look? I would LOVE to see him win the Conn Smythe.

The analysis by JFTC pretty much confirms my feelings heading into this series.
I like the matchup of the Kings big forwards against the Devils defense and with the NJ forecheck depending more on quickness than being physical, I think the Kings best defensemen will be able to play big minutes and make the transition from defense to offense work.
He's been fantastic all playoffs long. I don't think Hitch was blowing smoke when he said Drew was the best Kings player in that series. Drew's looking as good or better than he looked in his Norris nominee season. Absolutely loving it.
Funny thing was during Coaches Corner, Grapes out right came out and said he likes the Kings because there's more Good Canadian Boys on the team.
Cherry is still a uber-tool in my book.
I love Cherry. I'm not Canadian, but he's a Canadian Institution. I dont even mind the bias, as I think it's funny, although his anti-Euro schtick gets a litte annoying at times.

I think this is silly. You're rooting for the Kings just because they have a ton of Canadians and the Devils don't?
There's really no comparative in USA hockey. The average American hockey fan doesnt sit around saying, "my team's eliminated, but I sure hope XYZ team wins because there are more Americans" I just dont get that. lol
As for the Devils, Lou doesnt so much have an "American bias", but Devils teams tend to have lots of USA players because he does have an NCAA bias. That there are a lot of great players that come through the NCAA that the scouts entirely miss, because 90% of the scouts are looking at Canadian Juniors or Euros. Mark Fayne, Andy Greene, and Stephen Gionta were all "NCAA unwanted" players that Lou took a chance on.
This has confused me over the years, but is it really Stanley Cup Final or Stanley Cup Finals?
Grammatically, what is the difference?
Final. In the same vein, it's offside, not offsides. I don't know where that came from but so many people use it. And Brodeur and Fleury are not spelled Broduer and Fluery.
