International Manhunt for alleged murderer Luka Rocco Magnotta
MONTREAL - Police widened their search Thursday for Luka Rocco Magnotta, as the 29-year-old man sought in the brutal killing and dismemberment of a man in Snowdon – which was videotaped and posted online – became part of a worldwide manhunt.
Montreal police Commander Ian Lafrenière told The Gazette that Magnotta has left Canada and is on another continent. He would not confirm media reports Magnotta is being sought in France or that he fled Canada late last week right after the slaying, which was reportedly on May 25, or that he hitchhiked and got a ride from a woman that day in St. Lazare en route to Ontario.
Lafrenière confirmed the slaying took place “last week.”
According to a media report, the victim is a 33-year-old Chinese immigrant from Wuhan province, who arrrived in Montreal in July as a student.
The Gazette is not naming the victim. According to the report, police are working with the Chinese Consulate in Montreal to identify and then inform his next of kin in China.
However, police officials say the victim of the brutal killing has yet to be identified.
Results of an autopsy on the torso found in a suitcase has not yet been completed, Constable Daniel Lacoursière said late yesterday.
“We don’t know who we are dealing with yet,” Lacoursière said.
An Ottawa police source said Magnotta took a flight May 25 from Canada to Paris. Magnotta’s possible presence in France has raised concern in the French media, with France Soir warning “l’acteur porno” could be in that country.
Interpol, an information-sharing organization connecting police in 190 countries, added the Scarborough, Ont., native to its list of the world’s most wanted persons.
“We are getting a lot of information, some helpful, from the public,” Lafrenière said.
Police had not, however, had any luck reaching the victim’s family as of Thursday afternoon. The man was of Asian origin and lived in Montreal, and was in his early 30s. “His family lives overseas,” Lafrenière said. He declined to comment on a report it was a former lover of the victim who reported him missing.
Final lab results to formally identify the victim were not yet available Thursday.
Police do not believe there are more body parts in the mail, Lafrenière said. “We’re confidant there were just two shipments and we’ve got them both.” Police did find other pieces of the victim’s body, but he would not say which ones.
The package with the foot also included a note that Ottawa police have described as the “ramblings of a mad man.” A Montreal police communications agent said Thursday she was not aware of any note left with the package in Ottawa.
Lafrenière said police were able to get a U.S.-based website to remove a video showing the slaying, but were not able to convince a Canadian website to do the same.
“The website owner says (the video) will stay up forever.”
The website operator could not be reached for comment on Thursday. The website claims it was the first to link the video with Magnotta’s alleged slaying and that it warned police before the severed body parts were discovered in Ottawa.
Meanwhile, Magnotta’s blood-stained mattress and couch were put out Thursday on the street as trash. The items did not belong to him, as he was renting a furnished apartment. A garbage truck picked up the items a few hours later.
“We don’t need that,” Lafrenière said. “We have a video of the killing. We have body parts and we have blood.
This piece of garbage was notorious on the internet for killing kittens long before the human murder. He is truly an evil person and needs to caught before he kills again. He is currently on Interpol's frontpage.

creepy guy.. even creepier is the fact that he supposedly posted on these boards not long ago.
That really creeped me out. I've seen quite a few photos online that he posted of Russian hockey players on various forums and blogs. Seems like he really loves all things Russian, alot of his facebook pages have alot of Russian likes such as Stalin, Putin, and Sergei Fedorov. He even had a Vladimir Romanov alias according to the news reports.

He deserves far worse than rotting in a cell for the rest of his life.
Gonna have to agree. This dude obviously is one nutty psycho. I know the death penalty is not going to be available in this case, but if it was, he would be deserving of it.

I never thought I'd hear Sergei Fedorovs name with the likes of Stalin and Putin
Apparently, the video first appeared on the Deep Web maybe a few weeks ago and didn't reach the surface web until a few days ago. Rumor has it that he made the video with the intention of selling it as a snuff film for 6 figures. There are definitely wealthy, slimey people in this world that would pay for it and the Deep Web is definitely a place where that kind of sordid business actually is transacted.
The video (which I watched, unfortunately) is edited down to 10 minutes and doesn't show the actual murder itself. Presumably, this video was a teaser for anyone that would pay big bucks for the entire thing.
It's creepy as hell that he posted here but he has had a pretty large and self promoting presence all over the internet. He had an account at the bodybuilding.com forums and they have been going nuts about this for almost a week now.

So he started with kittens? Well that's just great, over here in one of the nearby Vancouver municipalities someones been going around cutting cats into pieces with some sort of mechanical equipment for the past year.

Why would you ever watch something like that...
I mean, movies and fake stuff is one thing, but to watch stuff like that... No way I could ever handle it.
