Horrible, terrible disgustingly bad for Winnipeg. Worst trade I have ever seen on here. The Jets give up the far superior defenseman, the younger and cheaper and almost as good forward, and another great young top-6 forward.

Those three players are by far more valuable to the Jets then Gaborik and Del Zotto. Gabby, while good, is winding down. Kane and Wheeler are one the upswing. Del Zotto would be interesting from a jets stand point, but the team can't afford to trade at any position really unless it's a huge upgrade at another position.

This is not that upgrade. Pieces like Antropov, Enstrom, Hainsey, picks and prospects...I'd even go as far to say Burmi and Little for the right price. I do stress the right price bit.

You can always tell with proposals which team the OP is rooting for.

Terrible trade for the Jets.

Wheeler was the Jets top scorer this year and even if you remove him, they say no.

It's the Jets' anniversary today, y'all should be buying US presents, not asking us to send some to you...

In other words, no, there's nothing about this proposal that's in any way acceptable for the Jets.

If I'm the Jets you don't sniff Kane for Gaborik.

Is Gaborik the better player? Probably, but they work under different circumstances and paying one player 7.5 million is not how they can operate and be successful long term.

This is not a good deal for the Jets on any level.

Agree - I love Gaborik, but he's 30 years old - Kane is 21 and Wheeler is 25, and they're both on RFA contracts. Assuming that Kane signs for 2.5 to 3.5M for 2 years this summer, and you're looking at 5-6M cap hit for 120-130 points of production, and both players will have a year left on their RFA's when these contracts are up.

As much as I like Gaborik, and think NYR is lucky to have him, this proposal is lopsided in favour of NY IMHO. It could be argued that Del Zotto and Bogosian are fairly equal (the only real difference is size - Bogo is the bigger player), so this is essentially a single 30 year old 70-80pt player for a 21 and 25 year old player who should accumulate 120-130pts per year over the next few years. Jets would pass, methinks.

Neither of those are accurate statements.

Come talk to me when Kane posts his 2nd 3 goal season. Gaborik had two 30 goal seasons in his first 3 years in the league at the same age.

Gaborik has three 40 goal seasons under his belt.

Gaborik scores points in 9 out of every 10 games he plays. Kane approx. 6 out of 10

Kane in his first three years is a +1, Gaborik, was a +6

Kane is not a better player than Gaborik today and has a long way to go before he gets to Gaboriks level.

THAT SAID the Jets still do not make that trade more for financial reasons than for on ice reasons. A building that seats 15K cannot have one player making more than 10% of the NHL cap, not to mention any internal cap they need to work under. For that team to be sucessful, they cannot have those kinds of players.

Bogosian is no better than Del Zotto is defensively, but because he is a bigger guy and somewhat better skater, he has the reach and speed to recover better than Del Zotto. Where I think that Del Zotto has the edge is on the offensive side of the puck. MDZ is far superior to Bogo on offence right now. They are even defensively, MDZ is better offensively, and Bogo is a more physical player.

Yeah if you're the jets you don't trade youth for veterans...
Gaborik is the best player in the trade, but he is 30, and the Jets are a few years away from competing. It makes no sense from their perspective.

Evander Kane's value to the Jets is more than Gaborik's value to the jets, even if in a vacuum Gabby's trade value in higher.

The 15K seat argument is not really true , our ticket prices are pretty high and a 15K MTSC brings in a lot more then some 20K buildings in the NHL because of that

The Jets laugh at this and then quickly check call display, just to be sure this isn't a prank.

For as much as you dump on Gaborik in the Rangers board, you certainly demand a ridiculous amount for him in trades.

More like:

Gaborik + Del Zotto + 2012 1st

for

Kane and Bogosian.

That's fair value, don't know if any team would do that though.

Rangers lose a young PMD who scored 41 points and they lose a 40 goalscorer.

Jets lose a young extremely interesting winger and a young good defenseman. Deals like this don't happen IRL. Maybe 1 of them might get traded in the future, but 2 of them? In the same trade, no way.

Uh, no, that's not fair value. A late first doesn't make up for how much better Bogosian is than Del Zotto and how much more valuable Kane is than Gaborik.

Methinks that no one has watched Bogosian at all this season. He's a legit top-pairing defenseman and was the Jets best defenseman this season (yes, better than Enstrom or Byfuglian). Asking for him from the Jets is equivalent to asking for McDonagh. And Kane is an insanely talented hockey player. He put up 30 goals at 20 years old without a #1C.

Would you trade McDonagh and Kreider for Gaborik, Del Zotto, and 28th overall? Because Bogosian and Kane are worth more than McDonagh and Kreider.

I wasn't serious, FYI. BTW, that scrub played for your US National Team at the World Championships last month.

Frankly, the original proposal doesn't even warrant any reply.
