He can hope all he wants. Hoping isn't going to change nothing.

I hope Kaberle makes some sort of comeback, but I won't hold my breath.

Looking forward to this (a new beginning...without Gomez, Kaberle, and jinxed-way-too-injury-prone-Markov).

Tinordi-Subban
Emelin-Gorges
Beaulieu-Ellis
Dietz
Bennett
Nash

OR...

Tinordi-Subban
Gorges/BeaulieuDumba
Beaulieu/Gorges-Ellis
Emelin
Dietz
Bennett
Nash
and maybe...Jordan Subban?(2013 Draft? 2014 Draft?).

p.s.: I really believe that with at least one of Dumba or Jordan Subban our D-Corps will be one of the best in the NHL, no doubt (imo). Defense (and solid goaltending) wins championships.

Maybe Kaberle should play center and Gomez play defense?
The only problem with that plan, is that Gomez is allergic to the blue paint at both ends of the ice.

Maybe, but that's Hamilton-Alaska's...problem come soon. Do they have blue paint in Zurich?

Have you watched international games lately? I challenge you to find white ice.

Kaberle is overpaid, but unlike Gomez, not a hopeless cause....

Always hated the leafs, always avoided watching them on tv. But does this coincide with Kaberle's freefall ?
The guy obviously has talent. No one can deny his offensive skills. Has he always avoided contact like he has in the last 3 seasons ?

The problem with Kaberle is, once the going gets tough.. he gets going (in a bad way).

He is NOT a guy you win with in the playoffs.

Hopefully the next coach knows to limit his icetime, just like Julien did with the bruins.

Kaberle gets more hate around here than he deserves, he's obviously overpaid but he at least still gave us offensive production. The problem with Kaberle last year is we had a really soft defense with guys like Diaz, Weber, Kaberle and Campoli all being in our lineup some games.. add another physical defenseman to play with him and he'll look better on the defensive size than last year.

5. Emelin - Hopefully can continue to progress and be a shutdown type D-man
6. Diaz - Decent at best (PP time and limited 5 on 5)
7. Weber - Will get moved (not happy with his role)
8. St-Denis - Will move up to 7 when Weber is traded
9. Tinordi - AHL BOUND
10. Beaulieu - AHL BOUND
11. Kaberle
Or it could work like this

If we add a physical defenseman and spend some money on him, who do we move out to create the space. Diaz has a small contract so moving him doesn't make the numbers work.

Dude, you know the Bruins won the cup with Kaberle just last year so why say that?
We already gave him very little ice time at ES.

They actually won it without Kaberle... or with very little contribution from him

Chiarelli knows he got screwed in that trade, and he knows Kaberle sucks, which is why they didn't re-sign him, and Julien had to severely limit his icetime, especially even strength.

Kaberle has decent offensive skills, but he plays like a girl and has the heart of the Grinch.

He can't be gone soon enough.

Oh, and he may do OKAY in the regular season but as I said, this guy isn't going to be a guy we want to keep if we really wanna go deep in the playoffs. He is a known liability 5 on 5, and a wimp.

Like Bourque, I find Hab fans are so caught up in their little hate bubble that they can't see the forest for the trees.

They would applaud dumping those two for free, but then in a year they would be the ones complaining about "asset mangement" because we got nothing and Kaberle outscored our top d-men and Bourque scored 25 while we had Darche on the 2nd line.

Instead of making things worse than they are with dumb comments...

"...Bourque has no skill" yet he manged to score almost 100 goals in a short Calgary career.

"Kaberle is horrible defensively" Yet he's manged to pile up great stats and was used a ton in all situations on a bad Toronto team and had respectable +-.

Instead of throwing everybody under the bus, let's hire a good coach who can press the right buttons to get those guys on track and then when the time is right you move them and get good assets back.

Well, with the salary cap that could go up to 71mil, I don't mind Kaberle anymore... and why not give 10/y to Parise ??

Kaberle was not a good fit for Boston's style. They are not a team that allows much freedom to their d-men offensively and everything is based on defense and being physical in front of the net and forcing shots to the outside. Kaberle fits much better on a puck posession team where he can move the puck and be allowed to jump into the rush.

I agree with you, about Bourque. But not Kaberle. I just don't mind if he isn't physical, but the guy is actually AFRAID of getting hit and will play accordingly, thus making him a huge liability against teams with muscle.

Now, about Bourque, yes. He is pretty much exactly what we need more of. Big, tough, fast guys who can score. He has no problem going to the net and scoring garbage goals, etc. People really need to give him a chance.
